Matthew 19:26
"Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."

Is it possible for God to exist in an eternal state where there is no space or time to do anything?

If not, then does God exist in an eternal state where there is space and time to do anything that is possible, like create heaven and earth and fill them with beings who are free to listen and obey Him or not.

Thoughts?

My reply might require a paradigm shift, as I would say God is time.

If God is eternal and exists in a state where He can do things, then time is eternal as well. So your statement would be accurate.

Shrug. You added the second line, not me. Play whatever games you wish with your own words.

The second line has nothing to do with "my own words". And I don't see logical conclusions as games. But I can see where you would, given your track record.

It seems like you have really limited the possible outcomes.

God could have also created a universe with pretty galaxies and nebula, and then turned his attention elsewhere. Unbeknownst to God, life emerged on one tiny rock in a tiny little corner of that really pretty universe he made, and that life continues today without God even being aware of it.

I can come up with a few more, if you like.

I'm surprised. You're the first at CF to agree with my statement ... though I guess I don't know if you accept the "if" part of your comment.

I agree, but I first rely on God's word, that's why I quoted Jesus.

How long does an eternal 'god' wait before doing anything?
like create heaven and earth and fill them with beings who are free to listen and obey Him or not.
Then hide from those beings, and burn the majority of them forever for reasons beyond their control (beliefs)?
Thoughts?
Your theology needs some work.

I don't see the connection between the passage you quoted and issues of time and space. I freely admit my ideas with respect to God and time are just speculation.

In addition to "God is Love", "God is the Highest Intelligence", "God is Perfection", "God is Justice", "God is the Creator of the physical world" etc.etc. - or in replacement of these common Christian definitions?

I don't know that I would assent to everything in your list, but I meant my statement as an addition, not a replacement.

The correct answer is that both answers are possible. Obviously.

But the idea that God is eternal has led me to focus on the idea
that God does not experience time.
This has solved other problems like how could Jesus perform
miracles and how could the earth be both young and old.

That should make for an entertaining Friday evening for you. I'm not sure if my intended meaning for that phrase would properly present itself for syllogisms. Maybe.
Not sure what the intended meaning for the phrase "God is time" could possibly be - apart from "God is time". It´s not that complex a phrase.

Interesting. Is there a problem, either scripturally or logically, if we say God does experience time?

Scripture states that a day is like a 1000yrs and a 1000yrs is like a day to God. Wouldn't this mean he does experience time in some way?
