"All the Light We Cannot See"
Anthony Doerr
This uber-popular book was rated "Top ten Best Books for 2014" by the New York Times and also by Time Magazine and is a National Book Award Finalist.
The story, set in 1930's and 1940's Germany and France, it is the stories of two young people (one a blind French girl, the other an orphaned German boy) that get caught up in World War II. The book tells their story, back and forth (the stories intermixed, as chapters, like shuffling a deck of cards) until they met (won't give away the end!).
VERY well written, VERY engaging. Many layers without confusing.
I strongly recommend it! I give it a solid 5 stars out of 5
