I am sitting here, totally happy, and so excited for the future that I can hardly stand it!

Tonight we had a question/answer session with our pastor over the 10wk series Tim did on Grace. In this series he basically layed out the Doctrines of Grace and explained them.

One of the things he said at the end just made me so excited for where our church is heading.

He told us how nervous he was about the series and how we would respond as a congregation. One thing he had told someone else is that doing this would do one of two things--either tear the church apart, or send us to the Word of God and motivate us.

His wish was for the second obviously, but there was always the chance of the first happening. He told us, that after the first couple of weeks, the e-mails, the testimonies, the questions, and the encouragement he got proved to him that he had made the right choice.

It also caused him to re-think the next year of lessons totally, and re-vamp most of them. (he's one of those pastors who plans his series months and months in advance) He was so excited about being about to teach such depth and meat, with so much positive response, that he's re-thinking his style of teaching, and will be including several more series that are just as deep and meaty.

Whoo hoo!! I am so happy! God is so good! I just had to share this with all of you!

(I need a little smiley that's dancing around!!!! )

It is always great when God gets all of the glory!!

I am curious though why the pastor would be nervous about teaching about grace.

I think mainly because it's a newer church, only 7 years old, and one that has grown very quickly. We get about 2000 people a weekend, and have about 800 members.

That's alot of diversity. Alot of people coming from other denominations, or no church background, and more than likely, alot of non-christians each week.

Tim has never, to my knowledge, given a series based on the Doctrines of Grace, "Calvin style". He's always concentrated on other things, but I think he's come to realize that growth is good, but teaching the real truth, without apology is more important and is what will keep the church around alot longer.
