All Animals named on the same day!

Wow haven't been around here in ages and things seemed to have changed a bit.
Thought I might post this just for interest. Obviously it does not affect salvation but just love interest stuff like this.

Did you know that all the animals were named on the same day? Consider this:
Fact 1: Adam and Eve were created on the sixth day
Gen 1:27 So God created man in His own image, in the image and likeness of God He created him; male and female He created them.
Gen 1:31 And God saw everything that He had made, and behold, it was very good (suitable, pleasant) and He approved it completely. And there was evening and there was morning, a sixth day.
Fact 2: Adam met Eve after he had named the animals
Gen 2: 20 And Adam gave names to all the livestock and to the birds of the air and to every wild beast of the field; abut for Adam there was not found a helper meet (suitable, adapted, complementary) for him.
22 And the rib or part of his side which the Lord God had taken form the man He built up and made into a woman, and He brought her to the man.

Now Consider this...How much brain power would it have taken to name all the animals (land based) in one day and still have time to have a major operation afterwards before you meet your wife?

To be honest, I believe most of us haven't the slightest clue as to what "naming" the animals means in this chapter. It is great observation to note that all of the creatures were brought before Adam in a single day, but it ruins the traditional aspect that we have created, where we try to mold Adam and Eden into our own image.

I'm not sure about your timing. Does it explicitly say that all the animals were named on one day? Or could it be that such happened later?

Also, where do you get the idea that Eve came along at the same time as Adam? I had always thought Eve came along later.

Yes Eve was created after Adam (Gen 2 tells us that) but Gen 1 tells us that they were both created on day six. So Adam was created named the animals and then slept and Eve was created from him. It also says in chapter 2 that Adam gave names to all the animals

He put me back together again: I agree with you. When Adam named the animals he was speaking over them the characteristics they would have. He was created in the image of God who created by his words. We still have that ability though much diminished since the fall.

The word translated 'Day' can mean either a literal day, or an uncertain period of time. I vote for the latter.

I suggest you read Gen 1:31 again: and the evening and the morning were the sixth day. Sounds like a 24hr period of time to me

I've read it and I can find no inconsistency on my part.

Would you like to explain how it is not inconsistent? I am interested now as to me that evening and morning is quite clear...how do you read it?

lol, but that's not what he meant by it. I agree that the "day" is a period of time (an age, an epoch). I don't think that half of it was nightime and half of it was daytime. I think there were a bunch of days within the Day. I think that's what Faulty meant, too.

I'm not going to lay out old earth creationism because it really don't matter. If you are really interested about what I'm talking about then do a search on either 'old earth creationism' or 'day age creationism'.

I'm really not going to waste my time debating it here on this thread because you are not going to change my mind and it's not vital enough to me that you see it my way either.

I think you mistake me Faulty. I am in no way trying to minimise the legitimacy of your argument, I am simply trying to understand how you don't see evening and morning being one day. It may indeed help me better understand the many others who are of your line of thinking.

I didn't think you were. I just didn't want to do anything that would pull me into a position of any type of in depth defense of my belief on this subject. I do recognize I would be opening a can of worms.

I'm merely stating that if you truly want to know, the argument is laid out elsewhere and in a presented in a way that is much more understandable than anything I could do myself.

Easy to remember the names, too.

also, there might have been far fewer species of animals, not a thousand differant breeds of dogs and wolves and foxes but just one type of canine

This makes sense! And would explain how there was enough room on the Ark.
