For me this is about body as temple. I sense that I'm honoring my body more when I have a glass of wine than a can of soda/pop. Or a bunch of sugar. Or refined food. Or Taco Bell!

Having said that, I'm in the middle of a 3-month cleanse with no alcohol, no sugar, no refined food, no caffeine, no meat, no fish - only whole foods. Most of them raw. So, SDA potluck would not be on my list!

What's your sense of it?

Question number 1: Do you drink? (If this too private you dont have to answer)

No.
Question number 2: Do you think the Bible supports drinking alcohol?

Yes, a known fact Jews drank watered down fermented wine.
Question number 3: Do you think Jesus drank fermented wine? and why?

No, people who were in service to God did not drink. (If levites drank fermented wine, while they working for God, they would be put to death).

Wine is not good for the mind or physically, so I dont believe Jesus drank.

Question number 4: Is it wrong for Godly people to drink?

Its not a sin but I do believe it is wrong for people in God's service to drink.

How is that going? does it give you any benefits?

It does. I'm doing it more and more often these days. But it does require a bit more work - and it's a lot more expensive. This morning I made a super foods shake with:

Almond Milk
Coconut Oil
Vita Mineral Greens
Hemp Seeds
Flax Seeds
Goji Berries (just a few)
Spiralina
Bee Pollen
Strawberries
Raspberries
Blueberries

I don't drink because I don't like the taste.

Question number 2: Do you think the Bible supports drinking alcohol?

Yes it does...in moderation.

Question number 3: Do you think Jesus drank fermented wine? and why?

Yes He did...the context of the verses tell us He did.

Question number 4: Is it wrong for Godly people to drink?

Only if it causes a weaker brother to stumble.

Question number 1: Do you drink? (If this too private you dont have to answer)

On rare occasions, yes. The last time was New Year's when I had 1 Mike's Limonade because it was offered to me by our host.

Question number 2: Do you think the Bible supports drinking alcohol?

No more than it supports full abstinence.

Question number 3: Do you think Jesus drank fermented wine?

Yes.

Question number 4: Is it wrong for Godly people to drink?

Can't answer for other people. Can only answer for myself. Here's how I would answer for me:
To the point of drunkenness, yes.

In moderation, no.

Would this include bacon?

Did Jesus eat it?

Did Jesus serve it when He had 5000 people to feed?

Does the New Testament speak of it as something good?

What does the LORD say will happen to those when He comes with fire to judge all flesh on the last day?

Isaiah 66:15-17 For behold, the Lord will come with fire and with His chariots, like a whirlwind, to render His anger with fury, and His rebuke with flames of fire. For by fire and by His sword the Lord will judge all flesh; and the slain of the Lord shall be many. "Those who sanctify themselves and purify themselves, to go to the gardens after an idol in the midst, eating swine's flesh and the abomination and the mouse, shall be consumed together,'' says the Lord.

k4c,

"Those who sanctify themselves and purify themselves,..." What does this mean and how does it relate to the eating?

I'll give you a simpler version.

Isaiah 66:15-17 For see, the Lord will come with fire and with swift chariots of doom to pour out the fury of his anger and his hot rebuke with flames of fire. For the Lord will punish the world by fire and by his sword, and the slain of the Lord shall be many! Those who worship idols that are hidden behind a tree in the garden, feasting there on pork and mouse and all forbidden meat--they will come to an evil end, says Jehovah.

wow, it sounds expensive. I would like to eat healthier...

I have a question though what is wrong with meat? Small amounts of meat are good for you?
I've been mostly vegetarian my whole life. I've had a small amount of fish here and there over the years. It's a personal choice. So I can't speak from a lot of experience about how I would feel if I ate meat.

I find that what works best for people varies a lot. In general, those in my SDA circles eat the least healthfully of all my circles. But I'm around quite a lot of health conscious people.

I find that the combination of what we know about foods from science, and what my body tells me, is a great combination for making good choices.

If you want to eat more healthfully, do a bit of study and then shift a couple things for a few weeks and see how you feel.

Just so I don't put myself on a high horse, I have had periods and moments of not the best choices. For sure.

To the point of drunkenness, yes.
It is odd to imagine Jesus as a drunk. For sure.

Having said that, for some people, inebriation creates an opening to clear some things from the emotional body that are not as easily cleared when sober. There's also a depth of forgiveness that can happen between people because of this openness. Sometimes.

I'm certainly not recommending it as a modality!

k4c,

I believe the above Scripture is true, in either version. First, we are given to hear it literally, and this is good, not to be despised or neglected. This convicts us of sin.

Second, we are given to see it symbolically, as it symbolizes the righteousness of our Lord Jesus Christ's attributes. Thus we are taught righteousness.

Remember that flames of fire were upon the heads of the disciples on the day of Pentecost. Doing good to your enemy is pictured as coals of fire upon their head. John the baptist prophesied that Jesus would baptize us with fire.

The chariots symbolize a quality of the Lord Jesus that is understood by a circle. Elijah was gathered in a whirlwind with chariots. What was used in the sanctuary that was circular? The laver, the bells.

Remember that without the sanctuary there is not a written record of Mt. Sinai and the covenant of God as expressed in that form of words/thoughts.

It is good to have zeal, but may our zeal be like David's zeal rather than Joab's zeal. The Lord gave us an example in David how to live for his glory while serving under the law and being forgiven for our sins while serving under the law. It does not bring completion of conscience, but it is the foundation of faith, giving us the first key over hell.

That's an experience I've not had. However, I'll definitely take your word for it!

You seem to assume that Isaiah 66 points to events that have not yet occurred. Why do you reach that conclusion?

I have to learn not to reply to your comments because you have no desire for truth.

2 Timothy 3:7 These people are "always learning,'' but they are never able to come to truth.

You are a man of many words. Why don't you just say you're trying to get around obeying God. It's would be a lot easier for us all.
