  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Alabama mayor recommends "killing" LGBTQ community in a now-deleted Facebook post
The mayor of a small Alabama town is apologizing after he reportedly recommended "killing" members of the LGBTQ community in a now-deleted Facebook post.

Carbon Hill Mayor Mark Chambers was responding to a comment on his original post, which read in all capital letters: "We live in a society where homosexuals lecture us on morals, transvestites lecture us on human biology, baby killers lecture us on human rights and socialists lecture us on economics!"

In a subsequent comment, the mayor wrote: "The only way to change it would be to kill the problem out. I know it's bad to say but with out [sic] killing them out there's no way to fix it."

To me, it looks like he is saying that killing them is the only way to fix the problem. But he does not directly recommend that they be killed . . . but that it is the only way to solve it. Maybe he meant that, but also it is possible he is being misrepresented.

Even so, if he meant killing the people can solve a problem, I disagree, since people who are wrong can be the product of religious, church copy-cat culture which might not do that stuff. And if that "old" cultural religious way did not work to prevent present wrong things, then killing the product sure is not going to solve the problem which might have happened at least in part because of a church culture of social clubbing which does not work.

He's not advocating for it...he's just saying it's the only way to fix it.

Ah. Yes, I see... :|

it's hard to say what is meant by "The only way to change it would be to kill the problem out. I know it's bad to say but with out [sic] killing them out there's no way to fix it."

it would be difficult to accept that the comment is meant towards a minority group cleansing. the next line doesn't help, admitting it's "bad to say". It would be deplorable words to use if, in fact, literal killing was the meaning, in any case, "kill" was the wrong word to use.

"kill the problem" -- I can see how that is just a bad choice of words
"killing them out" -- I just ran out of charitable interpretations, sorry
That was my sentiment exactly. You can kill a problem, but when a problem is "them", then you obviously consider people the problem you're killing.

If it were typical, it wouldn't be news.
It's typical attitude among Extreme Conservative Christians. The law just dont allow it.

The problem is that religious whackjobs will read between the lines for the narrative he's clearly communicating.

Imagine if a Muslim cleric said the only way to solve the problem in the U.S. was to kill all of the Christians.

You'd call him a terrorist, most likely. Same applies here.

The irony is that most people holding views like this have just as many skeletons or worse in their closet.

I wonder how long we'll have to wait for his mistress or gay fling turns up.

That a bit hyperbole, the law would throw them in jail, if it was happening that much, and talk about painting with a broad brush of "extreme conservative Christians" seems there hate in someone heart to judge like that.

How do you know if he has a mistress or gay fling, stereotyping much, funny the left don't like to stereotype there homosexual allies, yet so willing do it for Christians.

That's possible. Remember how Josh Duggar use to rail against LGBT and we know how it turned out with him cheating on his wife and being a sexual predator of young girls, including his own sisters.
