Name: Aislin Hatar
Race: Human (Sorceress)
Gender: Female
Age: 24
Height: 5'6"
Weight: 121
Appearance and magic: Aislin is originally from the Migua Desert, and as such, has the features of her people, a nomadic tribe of desertmen. She's quite pretty in an exotic sort of way. Her eyes are large and oval-shaped, dark brown with a small ring of deep purple near the center, barely noticeable unless seen from close-up. Her hair is black as the darkest hour of the night and hangs in silky, straight tresses down to her mid-back that seem to shimmer in the sun; when she allows it to be seen. Her skin is bronzed and soft, completely unblemished except for a rather large, dark brown birthmark on the left side of her neck. It begins at her jaw, near her ear and then flares out, covering the left side of her neck and continuing down and around to the back of her neck while also covering part of her shoulder as well.
Though the traditional garb of her people is drastically different from the clothing worn in Namor, Aislin has taken to dressing more like those around her, wearing the Namorian dresses with their heavy skirts and form-fitting bodices instead of the loosely-fitted silken robes of her tribe. She does, however, wear the traditional head covering over her people. It's a long, simple cloth, usually made of a light material or sheer, that she wraps loosely around her shoulders and pulls up over her head to cover her hair, which she tucks up underneath it in a loose braid. As she is no longer among her people, she isn't required to wear this, but she does anyways...partially as a sign of respect for her people's traditions and partially to cover her birthmark, though part of it on her neck can still be seen if one were to look closely.
The jewelry she wears is complicated due to the fact that its directly related to the magic she performs. Her magic is most powerful when released through sacred objects using incantations. The deep sapphire ring she wears on her right ring finger can release her control over wind and water. The dark ruby that hangs about her neck on a leather strap she uses to release her control over the forces of earth and fire. Around her waist she wears a braided leather rope upon which hangs a leather drawstring pouch, containing key articles that help her release other powers such as healing or aiding her in the art of scrying. Also hanging from the belt is a small book that her father gave her, the pages and covers made of hardened and polished bamboo. Written inside in swirling burn marks in the ancient tongue of her people are various other incantations and spells, and also ingredients needed for all manner of potions. She can release her magic without these articles, of course, but it drains her strength, weakening her considerably to do so. Instead she prefers to use these objects, the forces of magic passing through them instead of her own body. Some of the magic in the burned book along with some of her healing powers, still drain her strength however.
Personality: Aislin's personality has much to do with the culture she was raised in. If there was such a thing as royalty among her tribe, she would be it. As the daughter of the tribe shaman, she was well respected and revered, especially when she began to show signs of inheriting his gift. In her tribe, inner beauty among women was as much a desirable trait as physical beauty. Women were taught to be modest and subdued, delicate and respectful, and Aislin has some of those traits. She has a kind heart and loves to help people, eager to serve those in need, her smile quick to appear. She also, however, tends to speak her mind and can be quite bold when the occasion calls for it due to the fact that she is the shaman's daughter. She demands respect and in turn, gives her own. She's intelligent, witty, confident, and very insightful, used to getting what she wants and has no problem demanding it.
Background: As stated above, Aislin was born the daughter of the tribe's shaman, Rahzeem. When it became apparent that she had inherited his gift for magic, Rahzeem taught her all he knew about his craft. But Aislin had an insatiable desire to learn more, to delve into deeper magic and was often seen experimenting on her own. When, at the age of ninteen, she finally had too many questions and not enough answers, Aislin did what no other woman of her tribe had ever done, requested to go to the main land of Namor and study among the sorcerers there. Her father, much to the opposition of the elders of the tribe, allowed her to go. She has been in Namor for the past five years, studying under a private tutor on the outskirts of the town of Ronault.
Recently though, her tutor, Martin, was slain in his home. The cause of death was not determined and the house was literally torn apart on the inside, markings of an ancient evil left in blood upon the walls. Aislin arrived at the house just after the murder and was able to catch a glimpse of the killer. She attempted to overtake him, but he was too quick and got away. The townspeople, having seen Aislin practicing some of the traditional magic of her people, misinterpreted it as necromancy and blamed Aislin for Martin's death. So Aislin was forced to flee, searching for Martin's killer so as to clear her name.
