• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The part that [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse]ed me off most about the Tiktaalik article was that AiG claimed "aNtI-gOd EvOlUtIoNiStS" thought coelacanths were extinct because they were thought to have evolved into 'pods.

That statement got me going too, it is even one of AIG's don't use arguments.

You know, I had never actually visited AiG before. I pretty much had based my opinion on the site mostly on the responses here. Just today, I figured I would amuse myself by just seeing what it was like.

All I have to say is "Wow!" It's like concentrated kookiness. I have to seriously question a person's mental stability if they frequently read or cite that website. Every article I turned to represented an outright attempt at demonizing or lying about evolution.

It's things like this that can totally turn a person off from religion. I know because I questioned my religion and eventually became agnostic when I was younger after seeing the hypocrisy of those who claimed to uphold Christian values. I can understand if you believe in the bible, and I have no problem with that, but Christians should not be supporting such dishonest techniques despite what the argument may be. What would Jesus do, indeed.

Couldn't find it in the list.

AiG: Once upon a time, some guys wanted to prove the bible with true science. But they realized that wasn't possible, so they decided to use bunk and truthiness instead.

If x evolveld from y, why does y still exist was the do not use. In this case Menton ascribed to evolutionists the idea that coelecanths were a surprise to evolutionists becausethey supposedly thought they had evolved into tetrapods.
Even AiG agrees that this is not what the Theory of Evolution predicts, (AiG agrees that the evolution of a predecessor into one branch does not preclude the continuance of the original branch, at least according to the ToE) and thus for Menton to imply that this is what evolutionists thought would happen only shows just how far off the mark Menton is.

Even without fact checking the rest of it, the article was shot there.
