• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Ah, at home again

Yep. What's at question, though, is what that community must look like and how formally it must be established. What is important is that we are growing in Christ, in community with others, allowing our hearts to be renewed and transformed by God. That can happen in many settings. The current model of church institution in the west is only one.

I like silence & I like a good enigma, but what realy fascinates me is an enigmatic paradox.
Especialy if it can be expressed with an anagram!
A good enigma is like a box of chocolates.
Egad an adage!

adage: : a saying often in metaphorical form that embodies a common observation

I live on a property/farm/ranch where I wouldn't see anyone but my wife and kids for weeks.

I used to live a very monastic/ hermit-like existence (as much as someone with a wife and kids can) studying theology long distance and dwelling on God in the peace and quiet.

I prefer this style of life... I think some people are made for it... however I felt it important to fellowship and serve in a local church.

After a few years, two of the them as a deacon, I'm very damaged by the experience. The amount of endemic corruption (if not evil) I have experienced in the institutionalised church is frightening.

I'm not saying this of every institutional church and denomination.... but I am more-than-ever convinced that there is a true 'invisible' church in, and outside of, the visible Christian church.

I'm enjoying the peace and quiet and focussing on the things of God again.

In wanting to get away from oragnisation and programmes we must never forget that we are called into a new community when we become Christians. Nor, that self indulgence and personal comfort are not our guiding lights.

So if you are comfortable in church, and we are not allowed to be comfortable then shouldn’t you leave church?

The current models of church institution is only one, and often a very, very poor one, if even a comunity at all. Sadly.
