Agonising waiting... :advice/sympathy needed:

I'm trying so hard not to get into the "am I? aren't I?" frame of mind with this TTC business. But it's not impossible that I AM pregnant, even though DH and I only started TTC a week ago right when I was either ovulating or about to.

Here are my symptoms, in no particular order:

1. I have bumps on my areolae, which I only ever got before with my first pregnancy. They've been there for a couple of days now and are still there.
2. My husband's canned tomatoes made my stomach lurch, to the point that I had to ask him to eat the dish quickly just so I couldn't smell it anymore. I don't usually react like that to canned tomatoes.
3. My libido has been crazy, just crazy. It hasn't been like that since the last time we were TTC.
4. A little lightheaded at times.
5. My nipples and surrounding area were sore yesterday, and tingled a couple of times. This morning they were still achey a little. (It's late night as I type this, and my breasts seem a little sensitive, particularly to fabric of my shirts.)
6. After a particularly intense bedroom workout , I had cramping for a while.
7. Yesterday and the day before, my stomach was unsettled for some reason.
8. My voice has been a little husky in the evenings too. Strange, although my mother was sick and lost her voice. She was better early last week though.

I can't test for another two weeks, until my period's due. I don't trust those tests that claim to work earlier. I've heard too many stories of unreliability.

What do you all think? The waiting and not-knowing is already starting to bug me. :sigh: :(

Hi gracepaints

I'm not exactly sure which day I ovulated, but it was probably about 4 or 5 days ago now. Is that particularly significant? (If so, why?)

It's morning now, hours after I started this thread, and the achiness in my lower abs is still there, really low - like PMS pains even though my period's not due for another two weeks.

Thanks for the link - will have a look at it soon. :)

Generally speaking, you are not going to have pregnancy symptoms until the egg implants at 7-10 DPO. When the egg implants, it starts giving off the hormone hCG which is responsible for pregnancy symptoms like nausea, fatigue, etc.

Is it possible though that you could begin to feel symptoms earlier? Surely there must be some hormonal changes starting when egg meets sperm? I'm not sure exactly.

I've always been really sensitive to what my body is doing, so I'm wondering if it's possible that I am recognising symptoms early? eg. I still have lower ab/pelvic tightness, and still have sensitive breasts - my t-shirts are hurting them if I don't wear a bra. I still have those bumps on my areolae too that don't seem to be going away.

Any further thoughts?

It is possible to have some symptoms as early as 6 DPO especially for people who have short cycles. Are you sure it was a week ago that you were ovulating? You stated it was 2 weeks before you could test. The average person ovulates 10-16 days before their period.

How many days past ovulation you are is the DPO (days past ovulation) This is important because like gracepaints says the egg doesn't usually implant until 7-10 DPO on the average. You probably wouldn't have symptoms before that because one the egg is just floating around in there just like normal, & 2 your body doesn't really know for sure it is pregnant.

Every month our bodies go through a cycle. It is usually about the same for each person each month. After ovulation you progesterone levels(these levels are responsible for you not having a period if you are pregnant) will go up right after ovulation. If after 7-10 dpo you do not have an egg that implants your progesterone levels will go down and you will have your period. If the egg implants your progesterone levels will level out or go higher. Temps increases are a direct result of progesterone. That is how woman who temp know they have ovulated and can sometimes depending on the person tell if they are pregnant, before a BFP. Now HCG is the pregnancy hormone that causes morning sickness and other pregnancy symptoms It also causes your progesterone levels to increase. The body does not produce this (HCG) until the egg is implanted. HCG is what shows up in a positive pregnancy test. I also agree with gracepaints, most of the time early pregnancy symptoms mirror PMS. This is why so many people who are TTC think they are pregnant when they aren't. We are looking for those symptoms when TTC and we don't notice them as much when we aren't. I think it is kind of like when you TTC there are pregnant woman and newborns everywhere. And when your not I am sure they are still there we just don't notice them as much.

See, that's the thing. I never have lower ab or stomach pains mid-cycle - only a few days before my period arrives. I also never get sensitive breasts around ovulation, and rarely even during AF. I've also only ever had the bumps on my areolae when I was pregnant with my first child, and yet I have them now.

I'm not sure of the exact date of ovulation. I just know that my breasts were aching and burning last Thursday and Friday, which I assumed meant I was either ovulating or about to. Maybe I was wrong in that - but, again, I rarely get pain and burning. This was highly unusual for me.

I know my body fairly well - I've had to pay extra close attention to it for a while as my doctor and I sorted out which birth control pill I would take. However, I haven't used the pill for months and months because we never could find one that was right for my body. I'm only listing above what what I'm actually feeling, and they just happen to be some of things on the early pregnancy symptoms list as well.

So I really don't know what's going on. :sigh:

I wouldn't give up either maybe you ovulated early. I have heard that some woman can tell by thier breasts and cramps and such when they are ovulating. I can't I really have to pay attention to my temps, and cm. Like gracepaints said we are all different. Symptoms can also change based on twins and such. The pill can also mess with your body for months afterwards. I would take it all as a positive sign. And pray for that BFP ASAP. The not knowing is what drives me insane.

I guess to some it up you know your body best and if you think there might be a yes. Go with it I don't think hope is ever bad. We will wait with you until you get that BFP(in 2 weeks.) I hope my previous post didn't sound negative. I wasn't trying for that just trying to answer your questions based on the average woman.

Hi guys,

Thanks for the support. I feel like a nut talking about all this stuff like this, but I *feel* pregnant and I have some odd symptoms. That's basically what it comes down to until I can test.

No, none of you sounded like you were putting a downer on my symptoms. I guess nobody likes to have their hope diminished a little, but that's the reality of it. It we missed ovulation, we missed ovulation. It'll come around again (says my objective self while my heart is nervous as anything). And, yes, it's the not-knowing that drives me insane too.

 I need to distract myself.

When I really need a distraction I play online games. It helps me especially when the weather is cold and I can't get outside.
I'm trying to distract me, but then I get aches and pains in my lower abs and breasts that distract me from being distracted! I'm also a little more nauseous each day.

I'm trying hard here to be patient, but it's difficult with these symptoms! :sigh:

I understand. Did you see the www.peeonastick.com web site I posted on the other link. It has alot of info on it, that might be able to help you decided when to test. It can also be a kind of distraction to waste time looking around the site. Sometimes during my 2ww I see to learn more than other times because I try to read everything out there that gives me some hope. Do you any hobbies. I love to garden but it is a little chilly outside for my little ones. So I am here trying to not obsess over my chart about when dh and I should well you know this month. I really hope you get BFP soon!

Yeah, I've been playing online games lately as well. I even went to the doc's today, to check if I should continue going to the gym as normal if I suspect I'm pregnant. He said, yes, by all means. So that's good news then! That'll occupy my thoughts for at least an hour or more each day :D

I've had a look at the POAS website, but I find that looking at pregnancy sites makes me even more anxious and impatient. I need total distraction.
