  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

:) I have 2 Questions that may be of interest to Catholics worldwide.

1) What is your view of the afterlife?

2). What is your opinion on TV programs such as "Crossing over with John Edward?
1) That it would a whole lot better than life down here.

2) I don't want to mess with the spirits. You never know who you might be talking to.

THAT'S AWESOME. I love how you phrased that, hahaha.

Views on the Afterlife:
Just as nyj said, if God is there, that is where I'd like to be, too.

Views on people who claim to know all about the Afterlife even though they are clearly not in the Afterlife:
We cannot possibly know what God knows. We can't see what He has in store for us. Fear of death is natural because it is unknown. We have only ever known life, so how can we know anything of death? I prefer to place my faith in the Lord, whose Truth will be revealed to all of us in due course.

LOL !

1) Surely believe in the Afterlife a.k.a. Heaven. All I can say is that it will blow our minds! I reckon, if we take all our happy emotions of our whole life, and bunch them together in one big emotion, you'll probably be on your way to experiencing being that close to our God all the time! Don't know that we could relate to anything on earth, but it's the ultimate place of happiness!

2) I watched a few shows, but it creeped me out. I was always wondering if he was actually talking to demons without him knowing it...rather not dabble in that sort of thing...like psychics. Homey don't play that ;)

Peace in Christ.

1. Salvation through grace... Purgatory = Shower/Sanctification and purification... afterwards... hopefully, prayerfully... being with God in heaven singing with the heavenly choir, loving and serving God in heaven.

2. He (Cross) claims to be Catholic, did you know that? He was on a talk show and he said that he was told by his Preist that he was doing God's work... What do I think?.... Fraud perhaps. Or, like Krstlos(sp?) said... how do we know what spirit is talking? Any demon or evil spirit can easily impersonate a dead love one. Also, isn't there a passage in the Old Testament regarding Saul having a sorcer/witch call up Samuel from the dead and that was a real bad sin...? I don't think we should be seeking advice or comfort or any kind of answers to our afterlife questions or any kind of questions from loves one who are no longer on earth. We must pray for them, not seek them out.

Of course, praying to Mary and the Saints is very different than seeking out dead souls and actually asking them questions and actually expecting them to answer.

God's Peace,

D'Ann

A) I read an excellent book on the afterlife written by a Catholic. It's called "A Travel Guide to Heaven." I really enjoyed it and it doesn't conflict with Church teachings. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/038550988X/qid=1107615786/sr=8-5/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i5_xgl14/102-6964580-5021752?v=glance&s=books&n=507846 Prior to reading this book, I felt Heaven was just like the paradise that this book describes.

B) John Edwards ranks up there with Jim Bakker, Jimmy Swaggert, Oral Roberts, Benny Hinn and other frauds.
