Hello all,

Any members of the Association of Free Lutheran Congregations frequent these forums?

Just like to hear your thoughts on it, if so.

Yours,
Jeff
Hi,

If I'm not mistaken, I don't remember ever seeing anyone here from that synod. What can you tell us about it?

And welcome!

First, seajoy, thx for the welcome. Don't know how much you'll be seeing me around here, but I guess I'm just an incorrigible forum flirt.

Right, AFLC isn't a synod/denomination. It is an association (go figure, hey) of independent congregations. It's in the pietist tradition, and I think of basically Norwegian origin. It's the fourth-largest Lutheran body in the U.S. (ELCA, LC-MS, WELS, AFLC [about 40,000 members in about 250 parishes as I recall]). Headquarters, bible school, (non-ATS) seminary in suburban Minneapolis.

Was interested in an insider's view of the denomination, though. The above are just facts I've gathered in various places, esp. their website.

Yours,
Jeff

I guess that would be the nod to the pietist tradition?
