  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hello
I am 21 and a college student . Last Easter I gave my life to Christ. It has been an aazing journey. My only problem is I have been with a GREAT man for 7 years (all through high school and college) He has treated me well , respects me, and I know he truely loves me, but he isn't a christian. I don't think he realy knows what to believe. His mind set is that he will figure out how to get close to God by his own will.

I have suggested him coming to church ,Bible study, and praying but he may come to church once in a while. I have talked to hims plenty of times about how it bothers me he is not a christian man, but he just continues to tell me to have faith, and that if I left him was telling him to not have faith in God because to him I dont have faith that he will find Jesus.

Since we have dated so long I see in the next couple years he may propose.

It has just been tough ,but I know I trust need to trust in the Lord. I know the bible says to not be yoked with an unbeliever, but I have been with him for 7 years. God didnt leave me when I didn't believe in him.

I have started attending a realy awesome church that has realy been convicting me lately. I am scared that if I broke up with him that he would think that Im breaking up with him so I can be around other people.

I just want to ask al for your prayers and advice . I know what the bible says but my situation isn't as much black or white.

Thank you all! God bless!

I'm in no position to give you advice, but I guess it all boils down to how much it matters to you in your heart. Do you feel as though you're not on the same page and he doesn't understand you when you share your thoughts/feelings about things relating to your Christian walk? Or is he comfortable with your faith? It's a very sensitive issue that is between you and your SO. Keep praying and I'm certain the answers will unfold. :)

1 Corinthians 7:20
(NIV)
20 Each person should remain in the situation they were in when God called them.

This is the scripture that helped me in a similar scenario. And the quote of men, "If you don't know what to do...don't do anything", also helped.

I have a feeling that you are with your partner for a reason and this scripture helps our Father work in whatever ways He may need to fulfill that reason.

For now, I would continue in this relationship as it seems to be good and your partner respects your free-will relationship with your Father and so you should also respect his decision to wait on God. If you further prod him you could very will turn him against such a decision to turn to God, BUT, your patience and love could very well help him on his way. It is the Father who calls His children, it is His light that lives in us that helps him in this calling.

I believe if the Father brought you to it, He will bring you through it and He promises to always give us a way out if something in our lives is not what it should be. The Holy Spirit will guide you and let you know if where you are isn't where you should be.

I pray that in the meantime, you wait on Him with love and patience and that the same will bring your friend to the saving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.
