Get a friendly cat who likes to cuddle and be petted. Some of them have a great personalities and really bond with people.Anybody got advice on a calm cat, that is content on it's own, likes to cuddle, is not to scared, is a bit curious on other animals perhaps. In the countryside, I think a cat could have a good time here. Big territory, many birds and mice to hunt. And perhaps it could chase away some birds that are getting way too many and too close. They keep flying into the windows, like 5 birds a day smacking into the windows. Kamikazebirds. I must stop that animaltragedy. The cat should also have personality and like to play.
That is nice to hear. Over here in germany hunters often shoot straying cats. My father bagged a few as well.It is not like that here. People do not shoot cats, and no such my property stuff. And the hunt is only for moose and caraboo, and some deer. Just seasonal for like a month, and that is soon, so it will be little at that time, and be indoor cat. Because there are theese birds that might attack a cat on it's own.
That is the most important thing. And I think a fulfilled cat would be a happy cat. If it likes chasing birds and hunt mice, I think it will feel it has a mission here, and be content. And like cows, since I was thinking we would go over to the barn each day at 9 in the morning, and get the cat some fresh milk. Cool routine for a cat, that it does on it's own after a while.Get a friendly cat who likes to cuddle and be petted. Some of them have a great personalities and really bond with people.
Never heard of such here, but there is a crazy neighbour who shot a deer on our property outside season, that ran and died outside the porch. Do not expect him to shoot cats though, just a weird one who wanted free meat, and broke the rulesThat is nice to hear. Over here in germany hunters often shoot straying cats. Advice on cats......Don't get a cat ;-)Advice on cats, I think I will get a cat
Good advice and info. I want a female cat. Do not want a cat coming home bloodied up, there are others cat even if it is a distance to their terretories. I assume male cats are more territorial. And when I and a buddy got a cat each in the past, I got a femal and he a male, and his kept peeing on the house. Only 2 cats on the webpage now, in fosterhomes to see. One looks damaged and angry. both adultsYou are describing two kinds of cats.
A cuddly lap sitting cat tends to be an inside cat. Cuddly cats remain more kitten like and dependent because they see you as their mother. You are their source of food and comfort, with stroking being likened to their mother licking them. They will still want to hunt, but it's often more like play. They catch something to play with it.
My present cat is a cuddly cat. I have also had more independent cats, but none of them were cuddlers. Outside hunting type cats generally won't be as cuddly because they are more 'grown up' and independent and they will more likely eat what they catch.
Female neutered cats are unlikely to wander, males will go further and may still fight, even neutered. Females are more expensive to neuter but have given me less overall troubles than the male ones.
If you keep your cat outdoors only, please feed it and give fresh water daily. Many think outdoor cats have enough food in the wild, but that's not always the case, plus they can catch diseases easily by eating rats and mice. Make sure the cat is vaccinated and give flea/worm preventions. Cats are amazing creatures and make great companions. Cats are very sensitive to their environments Loud music and noises is not good for their ears, just like humans.Browsing another animalshelter, and they keep writing that some damaged cats do not like noisy homes and kids. Does this mean that cats cannot hear music unless on low volume? No blasting gospel or online RPG gaming with explotions and stuff? Is it in general or just damaged cats? Do not want a nervous wreck cat
Hahaha, I am not getting a cat to throw it out and make it homeless again. Just saying that the cat will be allowed to be a cat and roam around and chase animals. It has instincts, and it should get to satisfy them. I cannot covidquarentine it.If you keep your cat outdoors only, please feed it and give fresh water daily. That's great to hear! You might want to consider building a catio for them so they can go outside and still be protected. We did this as we live in the country and there are lots of predators out there.Hahaha, I am not getting a cat to throw it out and make it homeless again. Never thought of that, because there really are no predators here, but those bigbirds are dangerous for a kitten, so something to think about doing. That way it gets to be outside and jump around in a little area before the winter. That's great to hear! At least you are thinking about these things. I'm sure whatever cat you end up will feel loved. I do not know what is loud, but point taken. I have another floor for the cat to play in if I play a little loud. Or gaming booms and bangs, but we will see how it goes.
I love that thought, two cats so they are not lonely if I am out for hours at a time. Then they can even tend the house alone and I can do overnight trips. Figure that would be too boring if it was a solitaire cat. Here I have watched some cat ads and chosen just one, when it is obvious to get two. Not much to choose from in the area though in my pricerange. There are min coon cats or whatever, but not buying two of those. One costs 2 000 dollars. There is one mixed with it for 100 dollars, but bit far away. Thanks for good advice. Since you keep replying, is it OK to leave cats alone in the house for a weekend if they are two? Thinking about the litterbox mostly? At least you are thinking about these things. I'm sure whatever cat you end up will feel loved. I love my cats, they are like children to me.
My other advise is please do not get one cat, cats get very lonely if possible get two siblings. My cats love to clean each other and sleep together. Just like people cats get lonely when they are by themselves.
Sorry, about all my advice. I have had cats all my life.
Yes, two is really important, it really makes a difference for their well-being. If you can get siblings that best because they will get along better. If you can't get two siblings you might want to get two boys or two girls. Boys tend to me a bit more easy going than girls, but it's not always the case.I love that thought, two cats so they are not lonely if I am out for hours at a time.
