  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I feel really annoyed with my son headteacher he has set my son up to be bullied....

Deans has lost a number of his dinner tokens so the head has decided to make Dean wear a sign around his neck saying Deans dinner token, so now hes getting picked on and bullied because of it he already gets bullied as it is .... And the teacher that I need to talk to about this is on holiday:mad: :mad:

Has anyone else been in this situation?

That is disgusting that your son has been made to wear a sign like that and I would demand to speak to the deputy headteacher or the next teacher in line who deals with these issues and demand that he is not made to wear it.

If they will not co-operate then I would tell them that you intend to take the matter to the education authority.

I hope this gets sorted and Dean is treated with respect and not allowed to be the object of ridicule by the callousness of those entrusted to teach and look after his welfare in school.

I know a little of how you maybe feeling.
I had a situation with my daughter and her school not undestanding her needs and blaming her for incidents in the classroom when at times the situation wasn't her fault, sometimes she was to blame, but because her behaviour and reaction to other children teasing her caused mild temper tantrums she was labelled a troublemaker , which encouraged her classmates to tease her more to get a reaction, knowing full well she would get the blame and the teachers would not listen to her or me.

She is doing very well now, but the incidents of her early school life have scarred her and her self confidence is not high.

I didn't speak up enough and allowed myself to be led by what they (teachers) thought what was best for themselves IMO and not really the needs of my daughter.

I hope you get this sorted and don't let the teachers make you feel you are being difficult, your son's welfare is more important than a teacher making a "victorian" measure to stop your son from forgetting his tokens again, there surely are better ways to help him, than have him ridiculed.

God Bless:)

WOW You have hit the nail right on the head!
On Friday last week my son copied one of his friends that swung on the curtains so when Dean did it they fell down of course the boy who did it first didn't get told off.The head wasn't in school at the time but from Mon he had to wear that sign.....
And on Tuesday I phoned the school to say my two wouldn't be in as they weren't well the head ans the phone and said he would note it down...so why did I get a phone cal @10.16 saying why aren't the kids at school.

sounds like that school has some issues. I do not think riudicule is a good punishment for children, and the head guy needs a secretary or something.

However, as a former teacher (disclaimer no 4 year degree), I know that the second kid does get in trouble more than the first, cause we see it more, so teach your kids NEVER to be the second one in anything (fight, prank, cheating, whatever). Course you shouldn't be the first either, but... it is worse punishment wise to be the second.

Have you considered alternatives? what is needed for crowd control at a school is not needed in a smaller family setting. Making discipline easier and learning more fun (less time to stop and yell at people on curtains, more time to go find a rope on a tree to hang on)

On Friday afternoon I went to hand in son and daughters dinner form in.

Went to the desk to hand it over the head was next to one of the secreteries that was dealing with someone else and I was in front of the other secreteries only to hear the head say loudly to Dean who was standing next to me "What are you looking at me like that for Dean?"

He really doesn't like my son I think the reason is because the head had told me Dean had Aspergers last year just before the summer holidays...Well the head got it wrong as the school physcologist said Deans mainstream there nothing wrong with him since then he has done or said little things that make me think he doesnt want Dean in "his" school.

Because to have Dean labled as speacial needs would mean that he would get more money for the school obviously he won't get that now as he can't pigeon hole Dean as having Aspergers not that I think the head is qualified to make that assumption.

I have just had a word about the dinner token incident with the support teacher that deals with dean and she said she would contact me in a few days.
