• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

head phones, a nice set of noise cancelling ones if you can spring the money. These help for when you want some alone time, for whatever reason, but can't be alone by yourself. They help me focus on my homework.

A fan for background noise and a breeze if you need it. Fans can cover up a good bit of noise if you're trying to sleep and they make a sound that puts me to sleep as well.

  1. Don't worry, you're not alone. That pretty much applies to anything you're thinking or feeling at school: personal things like dating, class things like not understanding esoteric concepts being tossed at you, all of it.
  2. Try to go to every class. Others might not agree w/this, but you should go daily. Most schools don't take attendance, so there's not as much motivation to go every day if you're not nicked for not showing up, but go every day. It'll give you a good idea of what the profs think is important and can help focus your reading time. And, if you fall behind in your reading (happens to all of us, regardless of our best efforts otherwise), you have the notes to fall back on for exams.
  3. Try to make at least one friend in each class. That way you'll have someone to exchange notes with in case you don't listen to piece of advice #2. ^_^
Seriously, relax and be yourself. Everything will be okay. Good luck to you and God bless!

What's your major (if you've decided yet)?

Don't stress the first couple days of classes. At least at Grove City, the first day is USUALLY handing out syllabi, explaining a bit about the course, and letting you leave 15 minutes into it. Of course, you'll get some profs who do everything except the last step and instead go straight into lecturing.

1. Gee, I didn't even think that was an option.

3. It's also good in case you get sick or can't come to class for some reason.

Find a good campus ministry.
Read up on apologetics.
Your faith is probably tested at college more than at any other time in your life because you're bombarded with so many different cultures and people from all walks of life. Josh McDowell and Lee Strobel are pretty good.

So true.

Any way I would avoid campus preachers. They will make you vomit. If you absolutely have to walk near one, be prepared for conflict, and questions about various things, such as dinosaurs, the size of Noahs Ark, and if pet dogs have souls.

In short, questions trying to disprove the authenticity or whatever of the Bible, and the Christian religion. Just keep in mind the Christian religion is just that. A religion. You can learn all about it in text books.

Point being, following Jesus and the Christian religion are different things. So don't bother getting insulted or upset. And especially don't do what I did and scream in the middle of a circle of people that "talking won't change anything"; people love to argue. Only the police in riot gear will change that. Ok ok, thats going too far, but you cannot stop it.

Study. Every single B you get closes a door. Haha, joking joking. Well, not really, however life has a funny way of working out.

The only reason you are in college is because your parents want you too and its expected from you by society.

...or maybe you actually wanted to go.

In any case, just know you are here to learn, so you can make more money than a non college educated person. So if you want to make money, study.

LAPTOP. As a graphic design major, you probably already have one, but in case you don't...

Have a list of priorities. If school is important to you, make sure it takes precedence over other things.

Don't treat college like high school. It's a whole new social experience. If there's drama, realize that you're above all that, and you don't have to deal with it.

You're in control of your own life now. It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. Put your hands on this wheel and steer, mate.
