Especially those who leave for another body of believers.

Do you think they have lost their salvation?

It's ok for you to give a candid answer on this just don't be afraid to speak your minds.

Everyone is candid here, sometime too candid....:)

But in answer to your question they are our brothers in Christ and I for one care about them greatly. Being in one church or another has nothing to do with your personal salvation, however, IMHO being in the SDA church that follows Gods truth in the fullest manner certainly cant hurt. Your relationship with Christ comes first and foremost, then allowing the Holy Spirit to do its transforming work and guide you into all truths. God's mercy and grace are great and if we just allow Him to help us grow in the basics of loving God and our fellowman, it covers a lot of ground.

I became convinced, after studying chapter 28 of the Great Controversy that it was IMPOSSIBLE for me to pass the Investigative Judgement and I COULD NOT be saved no matter what I did or didn't do. I nearly gave up on G-d and became an atheist.

I don't know about you guys but my 14 years as an Adventist was spent in very conservative Indonesian and Filipino SDA churches where the sermons were always "Ellen White said this and Ellen White said that", and "Adventists are better than everyone else" and I heard LITTLE if ANYTHING about Y'shua or the Gospel or HOW to be saved or even if I could.

I didn't learn about salvation until I started attending my Messianic Synagogue where finally I was taught HOW to be Saved and How to receive the Holy Spirit, something the SDA church didn't teach me in 14 years of being there.

Shalom,

Funny, I didn't feel that way about the IJ. It must be you.

Too bad you didn't reach out to other Adventist churches. 14 years? It doesn't seem like you know that much about the denomination for 14 years, but hey whad'a I know.

You mean you never accepted Christ or were baptized in the 14 years you were in Adventist churches? You do realize of course that had you been, you were saved from that moment on, right?

Yes, I accepted Y'shua and was Baptised. But I was taught I couldn't know I was saved until I passed the Investigative Judgement. And going by what Ellen White wrote in Chapter 28 of the Great Controversy about that the prospect of that happening wasn't very good.

I spent 14 years in CONSERVATIVE, HISTORIC, ELLEN WHITE THUMPING SDA Churhes, and yes that coloured my attitude towards the SDA church.

I think that most Christians should go to church. A decent number of ex/non-practicing adventists I know don't go to church period.

I don't tihnk that the adventist church is the remnant church, I reject the notion that that be the church one should go to.

Good points.

I hope those ex-Adventists that are not going to a church will find a church and start going again to church I agree it is important.

I've never heard that and I never heard of anyone teaching that.

I think you have a big problem of listening to other and not to scripture.

So it's the church's fault? You bear no responsibility into your own salvation?

You must understand that man cannot save themselves, and anyone that tries comes up against the impossible, Christ makes the impossible happen.

You can't be saved if you are looking to save yourself.

Christ is our sacrifice. If we sin we have an advocate with the Father. Therefore, the IJ is Good News!

In my life I have gone from being an agnostic to a Christian. I have been in many faiths in my life. I found the sda church by studying the Bible. As a church it follows closer to the Bible than any other that I have found so far. I don't think salvation lies within a particular membership of any church. The problem in my eyes is this. Most of the other's that I have been in are following false beliefs that are contrary to the scriptures. That is the bottom line. God places His word in such an exalted status that He says it is even exalted above His name. It's the Bible and what it says that matters. And of course a relationship with Jesus Christ the theme of the entire Bible.

I guess my question is this. Why did you leave the sda church and affliate with another faith? What did you see in the church that made you leave? Was it doctinal or personal problems with other members? Just curious.

p.s. on an edit:
I just read some of the posts above and know now why you left the church. It sounds to me like you had some pretty good reasons. If I was going to leave the sda church I would most likely go to a messianic synogogue. In closing though I would say that you need to stay in the Bible and what it says not any traditions of man.

God Bless

Thanks, Jim and G-d Bless you.

I absolutely stay in the Bible.

My Messianic Synagogue teaches 100% from the Bible and I am learning so much I about the Bible I feel like I am in Bible University.

It has been good for me.

I am glad you realise that, Red. But Ellen made it VERY clear in Chapter 28 of the Great Controversy that we have to perfect our Character, we have be COMPLETELY without sin(even the very best of people like Moshe and Rav Sha'ul couldn't seem to manage that), We have to obey G-d's Law perfectly.

What you are saying is correct and I agree with it, but Ellen did not say that, she said WE have to perfect our character.

I know of an other SDA who turned Messianic and what I found is that she is far more legalistic now than even some SDA's are.

She has gotten all wrapped up in the feasts and of course the Saviours name has to be pronounced just right, but be careful that you don't SPELL it out! Then it's the mixture of kosher and unkosher, but hey--she says she is FREER now than when an SDA and even closer to Yashua too. Personally, I think she's been duped, but thats just my opinion.

HTS, I think just as are different levels of all understanding, whether we're talking football, golf, cars, ice cream, or Adventism so to it must be in discussing what a Messanic Jews believes.

We have a Messanic couple that enjoys our quarterly SS studies that visit our church on a regular basis and are a great addition to our SS studies Sabbath morning.

They believe in Adventist teaching and doctrine, including the IJ, the state of the dead and all major prophecies. The guy reads a Hebrew bible in class and has some absolutely fascinating takes on what scripture and Jesus was telling us in the OT.

I always get a charge when I see this guy and his wife at service and it never occured to me that they weren't Adventist until after a year or so.
