• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I don't know if starting a thread like this will work but we can try. We just have to remember it exists when no active and that is the hard part.

Did you see the AToday Newsbreak article on CF. Here is what it says:
Growing Online Adventist Forums Debate Theological Positions
Christian Forums was started in 2001 and has grown to become one of the world's largest online forums, with millions of posts from people of all denominations and faiths. It is also the home of two very active Adventist fellowship forums:
1) Traditional Adventist forum - members give answers to questions asked by non-Adventists in accordance with official church statements and the 28 Fundamental Beliefs.
2) Progressive/Moderate/Former Adventist forum - for more "inclusive" members who do not adhere to all traditional Adventist beliefs.
Forums quite frequently debate the other on theological positions, from the safety of their own camps. But not all play by the rules. And for that, a new sandbox guideline was recently posted. It warns members with flame-throwing tendencies that any negative cross-forum commentary about the other forum will be deleted.
Surf the Traditional Adventist forum here.
Surf the Progressive/Moderate/Former Adventist forum here.
So be on your best behavior now.

I also put up a blog article in response to an opinion piece by John McLarty on Jeremiah Wright is right.

interesting indeed.... I guess this was inevitable given that usually there are separate forums that hold to certain views.... what I mean there are sda online forums that have either a historic view or a moderate to progressive view, and those of that view are members. Here however we have both viewpoints in close proximity and the fireworks were continuous....

Sorry, cannot be bothered to give a rat's patoot what Adventist Today wants to write about it. Let them. Anyone what's got nothing better to do than chronicle the misbehaviors of some random afflicted soul as it seeks the destiny with God it refuses to stop believing it has somewhere out there to claim, simply has no real life of their own and by such obsessions, shows it.

They haven't targeted Moriah yet from what it can see (having run a search for its name on their site) so hopefully we can keep it that way. But if they did, they would not be the first to do so -- nor the first to get the middle digit salute in responding. :D
