  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I've seen that done before, but I'm not sure it's right - I thought the pink candle was always lit the Sunday before Christmas Eve. I don't know if they sometimes light one over the other simply because it's easier to reach.

I've checked two different websites, and they have this order:

purple
purple
purple
pink
white

Heh...yeah....I've seen it done both ways.

At home we've always done purple, purple, pink, purple.
But in my church it's been done both...either accidentally or on purpose.

I believe both ways are acceptable (though don't quote me on it). However, some people in my church really freak out if you light them in the wrong order. Or, if you light the wrong PURPLE one first.

So this year we put little labels on the candles...1, 2, 3, 4....so it was obvious which order to light them in. And every group who's done the lighting (either familys, couples, or people we put together) has really appreciated that.
