  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Hi, Shannon!

I've scanned a lot of her writings (I had a friend who studied her assiduously) and she's very good. Her Spiritual Director was Fr. Hans Urs von Balthasar who died before he could receive his Red Hat from Pope John Paul. She sparked a controversy when von B wrote an article in a theological journal on 'the extent of the mercy of God' asking the question: Might God in the end forgive all sinners? Many respectable theologians answered "NO!" and that was the end of it.

Thanks Michelina!! Oddly that anecdote was almost all I'd heard about her! I think I'll get the book and seehow I like it- though perhaps I ought to email my SD....

I liked what I saw, Shannon! But it was in Italian while I had Sr Faustina in English. So I never really got into it. She writes somewhat in the same vein.

I always check with my SD.

What is some good devotional reading? I read, oh who was it - "all will be well, and all will be well, and all manner of things will be well" - Julian of Norwich - for Theo Anth last semester. I actually enjoyed her more than I thought I might, as her style isn't typically what I like.

Any other ideas for worthwhile selections?

I emailed my SD- I'll go with what he says! Carrie- if I end up reading this I'll let you know how it is. She is a very prolific writer, Many of her books sound very appealing to me.

As far as devotional reading-- check out Transforming your life through the Eucharist by Fr. John Kane. It is one of those books that will change your life!

You bet.

I was excited today. Our pastor announced that his homilies for Lent and Easter will deal with The Lamb's Supper by Scott Hahn. A friend of mine is coming home with me for Easter, so I decided to buy her a copy of that book so she can read it and know what's going on for Easter here. Then when I was at Hallmark, I found these little Beanie lambs - SO CUTE. I bought one for my friend and one for Fr. With his I'm going to include a note that says something like "a little inspiration when writing your homilies".
