  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi All,

Just wondering your thoughts.... if you've recently looked in the Day Care & Adoption area, there are tons of temporary admissions. It's really difficult to see if there are any pets for adoption.

Do you think that it would be beneficial to recommend or suggest that pets for adoption be at the top of the page (first to be seen), and day care at the bottom (since they have a home to go back too) of the page?

I know the tech people are swamped and it's likely not to happen for a long time. But what are your thoughts?

Have a great day.

Kristen

I think that's an excellent idea...I had to search through many rows of the same word (temporary), for the little "adopt" sign when I went looking for a pet. It just appears to a newcomer to be quite disorganized, and would seem that there would be no pets up for adoption the way it appears now.

Not everyone is going to think to look through all of the rows of temporary's to see if there are a couple of little "adopts" in there...

That's my 2 cents anyway!

:)

Yes would be a great idea, but like you said it will take a long time do get this done, good idea.

But the other thing you could do if you know someone is looking for a pet, you go and look first, copy&paste the link and give it to the person who is looking,at least this would get them in there and once there they may look a little further.
Hey IsJesusYourSavior, come on our chat thread so we can get to know you.

Oh... following your line of thoughts, what if we put a post in the Pet forum in the mean time, that had a link to each of the adoptable pets. But that means someone would have to stay up on that really well.

Where or to whom would we suggest the organization changes?

Thanks for your feedback everyone... the more we think the better our options! You guys rock!

No, my bad. I noticed after I posted above that it probably only had something to do with me just putting a pet up for Adoption.

Nevermind, sorry:) That praying for your eyes to never wear out is still working, lol!!!
bummer. :( Though I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who is blind. ;) lol

hmm..I know I'm not officially here anylonger :sorry: but if you don't mind I'll just put in my two cent

have been thinking about the whole adoption "problem" latley (old habits die hard ;) )and came up with the following idea:

create a thread in the main forum with instructions about adopting in the first post (plus some info about what the pets are and how to care for one)....

in the second post put a list of pets up for adoption in the adoption center with basic information such as color, gender, name, type, baby/teen/adult, price....plus put a link to the pet profile there...and one to the adopt me (which by clicking on you adopt the pet) <- this link would be the most important part...it saves people the trip to the day care center

in a third post put a list of all the pets owned by the teams that could be adopted as well - with the same information as the above (except the price maybe) and a pm the person link instead of the adopt one....

this whole thing could be "kept tidy" by one person - team members would just have to drop a note when they adopt a pet out maybe....and that person probably could do some adopting advertising in the forums as well....

I would be up for volunteering for it but I'm away for 2 1/2 weeks in Febuary so probably wouldn't get it together till March :sorry:

blessings <><

People looking for pets to adopt can find them. We have a large Icon at the top of every page showing where to adopt pets.

This would take someone 24 hours a day to keep this up to date. We have posted pets up for adoption on the public forum and it has not helped.

Let us put our extra time into communicating with the pepole that visit our forum and spreading the word in other forum we visit when we have pets for adoption. No matter what program we have set up for adoption of pets it will not work if people don't use it. We have a good program in place now it is our job to make sure people know about the pets available.

Easy directions: Top Center of every page. Clik on brown card with Pets.

I can understand that we have it, but it is difficult to find 5 or 10 adoption pets snuggled in between multiple temporary housed pets. That's why the suggestion of changing the coding in there to put the pets for adoption at the top.

For example, my friend told me that when she was hunting for a pet to adopt, she had trouble finding them, and then the thought of changing it to what color, etc. was very overwhelming. So while she would rather have adopted (as she did this in real life with her dog) she created a new one.

Anyway, since I know it will take a long time for adopting code changes, if even approved, will just keep plugging away. ;)

yep...the problem isn't finding the adoption center but discovering the pets up for adoption (especially the one you want) between all the temporary care pets....

I know it would be a lot of work but it would mean there was one place to refer people to who wanted to adopt a pet...and also having a list of the pets NOT in the adoption center but available from the Team....

anyway...it was just another of my ideas  and since I'm not on the team anylonger I'm not the one to make any desicion anyway :)
