• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I currently have a nephew that has ADHD and just recently beginning of the school, he's beginning to twitch his eyes and when he does that he has a certain facial expression(its an involuntary action that happens and he can't control it). Does anyone know what's this symptom is called or what actually caused. He hasn't been to the doctor yet as I'm trying to tell my sister to go take him. Thanks in advanced.

I have ADHD ++:) You could check out Tourets? not sure what that is in english. been abroad too long^_^ Anyway I had a freind with the same problem which did not get better. However he got help early and learned to deal with it. I have heard though of other cases clearing up. But I am not sure if there is a difference between tourets and a tick? God is with you:)

Yea it sounds like Tourette's syndrome. I have both ADHD and Tourette's syndrome... Talk about an interesting life ;)

Anyway, ticks are nicknames for Tourette's symptoms. If u get him checked out ur doc should be able to help. But there's no real cure for Tourette's sadly without that new surgery they have to zap a part of the brain to stop the "ticks" but everyone's different and his might not even get bad. I hope this helps

Better seek professional help for your nephew's condition. ADHD is more of a learning disorder where children have very short attention span, keeps on moving around and finds it difficult to control mood/behavior. So, maybe your nephew might be experiencing a different kind of sickness.

James1979....my daughters doctor said that with ADHD there is always something else with it.....you could have ADHD and obsessive compulsive...or ADHD and Tourette's. ADHD and Tourette's is what my daughter has. The medicine she takes is Focalin. Believe it or not....the Focalin calms her tics. You can hardly notice them until the evening when her meds. Are out of her system. Good luck.
