Addition to statement of purpose

I know this was added at the Physical & Life Sciences level, but I think this is the forum where we see the biggest problem:

Christianity cannot be called a myth, and science cannot be called a religion or made up.

Some of our creationist friends are going to be really hard-pushed to abide by that as it is central to their argument. And I dare say some of our more vehement atheist friends will have problems too, but hopefully it will do away with so much of the nonsense we have seen spouted in these forums.

I like this change. I've been getting annoyed at all the evolution-is-a-religion arguments, and calling Christianity a myth on a Christian site is just rude.

The only objection I have to that is that it is Creationists who have insisted that "myth" is synonymous with "false." The proper definition of "myth" describes only how a story is used, not whether it has any determinable basis in fact or not.

I'm hoping we might get supported arguments rather than emotional opinions.

As long as it's still permissible to refer to bible stories as myths & legends, I think it's a good addition.

It’ll be interesting to see how it plays out. I can think of a few posters who can’t seem to go a single topic without calling science a religion.

I did not receive an alert of any kind that a change had been made - did anyone else? I hope it was just an oversight - I have seen forums in the past introduce new rule without telling anyone for the purpose of having 'reasons' to delete comments and such.
