I don't know but there certainly would have been no real purpose for it just like we had.

But if they did have belly buttons and also were made in the likeness of God, then would that mean God also has a belly button.

I guess that leads me to wonder that when we arrive in Heaven and have shed this body for the 'incorruptable' one, will WE still have belly buttons?

I see - so God also has arms and legs, a spleen and a bladder.

If Adam & Eve are both made in God's image, does that mean that God has both a penis and a vagina?

Or is that perhaps taking things a little too literally? (Find out what a metaphor is)

hmmmm belly buttons...hmmmm wonder if they had them were they innies or outties??

but aren't belly buttons a sign that we were born of woman? if that is the case then they didn't for they were one Adam raised from the dust of the earth and Eve from the rib of Adam..not born from woman...

lol I have never thought of this before... forget all the quanderies over the Eucharist, homosexuality and salvation, here's the REAL DEAL... I'm gonna present this question at the church-young adults meeting tonight, and see what they have to say about this!

Artybloke, you're wonderfully british - (ie sarcastic!)

If this is true, then Christ is no savior to humans, for Christ became Incarnate as the image of God...
carnal image!! not our spiritual image..He didn't come to save the flesh but the spirit...the flesh rots and turns to dust and water...if you are in sin God can't see you...you are blackness to him..then when you are covered in the Blood of Jesus you become like snow....and you can be seen and fellowship with God..

Anyone disagree?

*raises her hand* I do to a point.
God is spirit, a spirit cannot have a body. I think that the Bible is speaking metaphorically when Genesis says "God created them in his image". By that I think it means with his creating ability and intellect. I don't think God had a body at the beginning of the world.

However, God the SON recieved a physical, honest to goodness mortal body, so in that sense God does have a spleen, and a bladder, even an appendix and tonsils, and yes even a belly button because he had to live in the womb like any other child would...with an umbilical cord.

As far as Adam and Eve having belly buttons I think God would've given them belly buttons so as to have uniformity in the human race, and to keep confusion to a minimum.
Slainte!

He would be the same as us..
Jesus is God. Jesus has a bellybutton, a spleen and a bladder. Therefore - God has a bellybutton, spleen and bladder.

God is spirit, a spirit cannot have a body.
Until it is incarnated. After the incarnation the Logos had (and continues to have) a body.

Now let's see how this goes...

God has a belly button that was attached to an umbilical cord becuse he had to live in the womb of who? His mother.

Of course they had belly buttons! They would have been born just like anyone else. I don't think they were formed as if from nothing but rather were the first fully evolved humans and as such were the first to have a human spirit (ie image of God, unlike animals) imbued.

I think that Adam and Eve were teenagers.
Look at the evidence:
1. They were man and woman, so physically they were full grown.
2. But, they did not obey their Father.
3. They did not accept the blame for their own actions - Adam blamed Eve and Eve blamed the serpent.
4. So, their Father had to use tough love, kick them out of their only home they had known and make them work for a living so they would grow up.

I always tease my friends and relatives.

Quick: Name two people who never had belly buttons?

Many of them could not and a few did named Adam and Eve.

Adam and Eve didn't have natural parents since Adam was created from dust while Eve was created from Adam's rib.

First off, the Bible only states that man was made in his image.

Gen 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: (v27) So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him;

image = tselem - "resemblence"
likeness = demuwth - "model or shape"

Second, I don't think I was too literal at all.
