• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I've had accountability partners but it didn't help, I'd get together and they'd ask Did you look at porn or touch? and I'd say Yes! and they'd say well that's not good! Well, what do you want me to say?

Every week they'd ask the same question and every week I'd say I failed, so it just seemed silly after a while.

I don't really understand the concept of how having an accountability partner is supposed to change your behavior.

Maybe you need to meet up more, I think it is an excellent idea!

In fact I think because we have accept a new role as Christians we need to understand our responsibilities, we can't have such a shaky foundation if we want to lead the world!

I think maybe its how you guys address the issue that might have to change. Talk about the week, goals, plans, anything to keep your mood interested, busy, purposeful.

It can work well, but you and your partner need to talk about what triggered the behaviour and how you can avoid those triggers. It takes time, but admitting there is a problem is a big first step. Try to find a partner who is willing to really work with you.
