Accent?

I know this thread has probably been started a millon times before, but I wanted to know anyways. What accents do you all (I dont say y'all, take note) speak?

I dont really have an accent, I think. I have gotten comments on how plain my language is. When I moved from Minneapolis when I was 7, I had that northern-Minnesotan accent which is hard to describe. Kids even called me chinaboy! scratch: ) I lost that pretty quicly though, and now I just speak my words sluggishly.

I tend not to prounounce "t"s if they're towards the end of my words...like "about", I pronounce "abou", I pronounce water "wadder"...Yeah...that's about it.

LOL! you're from NJ, arent you? My best friend is from new jersey, and i make fun of her for how she says things like "water" (it's like "wuder") and embarrassed and things like that... it's pretty amusing.


I don't have too much of an accent (I'll post a clip soon...) but i get made fun of for words like "bagel" and other things with the same a sound. they say i say it like "bay-guhl" and laugh and make fun of me. ah well

if I could live anywhere in the US, first I would live in Chapel Hill, NC, and then Id live in NJ. Their accent sounds pretty cool.

hehehe, talk about accents, another time when I was younger I thought that the Liverpool accent sounded cool so I tried to force myself to speak it. That didnt work long, as people soon got tired of me trying to fake an accent

I am from South East England and have a fairly stereotypical British accent.

As for me, well, I speak English fluently and quite well, however, I speak English like a Francophone, more exactly, like a French-Canadian speaks it! I speak English with a French accent.

My problem comes down to not being able to say "breakfast" completely. Sometimes I say breakfas, without the t, like you, FullyMT!!!

My one friend said I had the "generic cosmopolitan newsreporter accent."

I have virtually no trace of an accent when I am in Kansas City, however when I return home to Lousianna, my accent returns immediately and without my even noticing it. My wife notices however, and acts is I am an alien while she adjusts to the change in my speach

Same thing happens to me when I go home to NYC.

Same here. When I lived in Europe, I spoke with a generic accent and do so here in Upstate NY.

When I was in Europe, the French told me I spoke French with a Canadian (Quebecois) accent. They also didn't hesitate to stop me in mid-sentence to correct my pronunciation of some of their vowels, etc.
