With special regard to Woob's recent outburst, it is an abuse of privilege for one to begin a thread then immediately have it closed by the mods in order to suppress discussion of the issues raised. If the poster believes the thread was a mistake then the appropriate action is to delete the thread.

It wasn't a mistake. I closed it because I don't wish to discuss it.

When my ban is complete, I will put the proposal in progress.
If you 'don't wish to discuss it' then why did you start it in the first place, make your threats, and then close it?

I am not taking any side on this whatsoever, however, I don't recall any POLL where permission was given for this sub-forum to declare its own independence.

If I can be shown where I am wrong on this by a link to the POLL, then I will recant what I posted here.

Maybe my memory is bad, but I do recall that a vote took place.

EDIT: OK, Daryl appears to be right. I just went through a bunch of pages to find a poll for this, and it doesn't appear that there was one. So it must have been an informal agreement that took place.

Regardless, there has to be some kind of system in here to stop the flaming.

you are guilty of flaming, so stop it... that's the system....

As for the progressive area declaring independence, you were not involved in the process as you were busy elsewhere pushing through super-strict rules to be applied in the other forums...

Why do you care about this subforum in the first place?

the progressives were given the right by Letalis, acting in Erwin's behalf. No action on your part in the wiki will change that.

The progressives do have a sytem for dealing with violations. It is the same as the main forum. It is not much of a system. But it is one.

here is a part of that system....

2: Short FSB(forum specific ban) or Foru.ms ban for members who are constantly breaking the Foru.ms rules,or harassing members/staff .
Before a member can receive a forum-specific ban, a team leader or moderator with more than 6 months of experience must warn the member that they are in danger of being banned from the forum, and offer to help them modify their behavior. If these steps do not resolve the problem, the staff member can issue a ban for up to 30 days.

I think this is applicable...

Wow, I could be a prophet! :D Here is what I said a few days ago:

You forget that they were never happy with our declaring independence and autonomy. Indeed, they are still upset about it. And anyways, the only way we were able to secure our independence was to do so through a process that was basically the equivalent of a salmon swimming upstream. Barbs and shouts of 'offshoots' were leveled against us and we were falsely accused of 'separating from the church'. Those cries came from some of the mods as well as you recall. Or have you forgotten all of that opposition we faced?

Mark my words, this Prog subforum is a thorn, a blight, a blemish on the pristine face of what is a predominately conservative/Trad-oriented forum. It is in thier best interests to find some way to bring this subforum under the fist of thier control. It is only a matter of time before they find some loophole, some wording in the rule system that will allow them to finally take over this place as well and enforce thier rules on us here as well. We get too comfortable and lose our edge at our own peril. Like the sentry who falls asleep at his post, we let our guard down and they will find a way to take over this place as well. Certain ones on this forum will never be happy until this hotbed of unorthodox free-speech is obliterated from here forever. We are a threat you see, and a danger to thier agenda to convert visitors here to the Trad viewpoint.

Today:

Independence wasn't given as a license to abuse other SDA forum members through flaming with impunity.

Even in the report area some are boasting that the rules don't apply in here, as if to suggest that they can flame others and nothing can be done about it.

This should not be like this!

Keep in mind that you needed a vote from all members to obtain your independence. We could just as easily vote again on the matter if need be. This wouldn't mean that we would take your freedom away to express your views on doctrinal issues; but we could certainly vote to have the FSB system apply in here for flaming.

Of course, one does not need to be much of a prophet to see this was coming sooner or later. It's too easy to see into the future when you're dealing with such predictable people.

Night, did you read what I said? I said that you guys should still be allowed to teach whatever you want to in here, but that there should be a warning system for flaming. That's it.

My translation:

"Night, we don't want to control you, we just want to force you to use an FSB system that other forums are not forced to use"

I don't think that would be terribly comforting to the progressives.

Bad translation.

Here is a better one:

Stop the incessant flaming and there would be no need for talk about an FSB system.

So you admit that you intend to use force if they won't listen to you?

What can you do?

What you cannot do is compel them to add something to their rules that the site does not require. If you want to change that go argue it in the site rules.

I think night should stop flaming. I think you should stop flaming.

But it has nothing to do with your notion to try to force them to add rules because you don't like something.
