  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

If you feel God speaking to your heart then you should follow it and give your heart to him. I would suggest reading the word of God...maybe start with matthew, mark, luke and john and just see the things that Christ did and let God lead you. I can tell you this...God is the best thing I have ever found and it would be great to find him now at the age you are at.

I used to beleive in god, when I was a little kid and I had do, I'm a bit older now, and I don't know what is the right path. Should I become a christian? I think I want to, but I am not sure, please can I have advice. :sigh:

What I would suggest is to go visit different churches. If one tickles your fancy, go and talk with the minister. I quit believing in God when I was 12 for various reasons. I did not start believing again until I was 18. I came back into Christianity kicking and screaming. I did not want to come back, knowing what I went through before. But, God kept drawing me. And, here I am. I am a very strong Christian today because of my disbelief before. Let me explain:

Coming back into Christianity, I had to reconcile some things from my childhood. I also had to discern what was true and what was not true. That took years after I had come back into Christianity. I had to go through the Bible, through other scripts, etc. It took me years to believe that I can actually be loved, forgiven, received mercy and grace. That was through the help of my priest and I know that God was working through him. That was an irony of itself. I now want to go to seminary and become a priest. In the Episcopal Church, women can become priests in all dioceses (of the US). But, it was through my struggle that I am strong today in my faith and therefore I do not regret ever disbelieving, for if I did, I would not be the Christian I am today.

Yours in Christ,
Jen

What are you looking for? If you think you can give Jesus a shot, try Him out, see if He works, you will be in for a surprise. He owes you nothing, and what He's given is because of His love.

I didn't read where the poster said that Christ owed him/her something. Is there something that gave you that idea?

Yours in Christ,

Its simple, Just ask God to forgive you of your sins, and that he died on the cross for you. Just say those words. Out loud. And mean them. Then you will begin to feel the Holy Spirit. Its best two have two witness there with you, or go to church, and when they give the call to come forward, then do it then. Jhn 14:23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

He said Christ owes us nothing meaning we don't deserve anything but because God loves us He provides us with so much.
The thing is, when someone is looking into Christianity, whether coming back into Christianity or looking into it for the first time, saying something like that can turn a person off of Christianity pretty quickly, especially if they never made the comment. When I was coming back into Christianity, I was looking at what Christianity could offer me. If someone had told me that Christ doesn't owe me a thing, I would have probably turned away immediately. Now, I have grown a lot since me coming back into Christianity. When people come to Christianity, they have to crawl before they can walk. They will be baby Christians, and if you know anything about babies and toddlers, they are very selfish. At that point, it is what can it offer them. What are they going to get out of it.

Yours in Christ,
Jen

Very true aanjt.
I have two friends who I never thought would ever consider turning to Christ but the Lord has blessed me soo much and they are becoming so interested in God. One has already been to church with me recently and the other wants to. They are understanding and accepting that God is here for them but it's difficult for me to know how slowly to take things because this is the first time in my life that anyone I know has wanted to become a christian, from which God is using me as a tool. I really want them to be strong in their faith and be able to stand up on their feet but as you say they are like babies in their faith. I just have to pray that God will give me wisdom to handle it.

Should I become a christian? I think I want to, but I am not sure, please can I have advice.

I have made a desicion.

I have decided to become a Christian. It's going to take time, and I will accpet God into my heart.

Thankyou for all your support n_n
Utimately is a decision you should make, and see for yourself, if Christ is who he says he is.

I pray you base your decisions on the merits of Christ, and not what anyone says.

I encourage you to read on How to become a Christian under quick links.

Alright, it is something you will not regret :) But remember everything takes time, we're all in the process of being made like Christ :D

http://www.christianforums.com/faq.php?faq=gospel#faq_christian

Here is the link, it was under FAQ

You will still have a lot of question like, "what kind of church should I go to"

I encourage you to find a New Testament, bible-based church that you like.

Here is a video for teens by billy graham ministry

If you truly believe that Jesus is God's sun and that God is real than of course. But if you do not believe that there is not point, but let me tell you that there is lots of proof for Jesus, like science proof. I hope that you are aware of the facts. I know that Jesus is real and I can feel him. If you want to know some of the facts or have questions I can help you. Let me end by saying that the fact that you think that you should become a Christian means that God is trying to talk to you, if you open up and listen I garuntee you will never regret it. God wants you to be a Christian and he wants to have a relationship with you. I would become a Christian if I believed!
