  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

You know many many times I have been in chat rooms with other Christians and found that when I start bringing up historical evidence behind the resurrection.. evidence of Jesus' identity as believing Himself to be God in human skin, other things that back up our faith..

alot of Christians don't like it!

They believe faith isn't helped by knowing this stuff.. or at least believe faith is absent from this stuff.

from looking at what faith is tho.. it is the 'substance and evidence of things not seen'..

substance.. and evidence... well.. there is ALOT of that in apologetics!

Alot of Christians use apologetics for non-christians.. to give answers to questions like is the bible reliable? Did Jesus consider Himself to be God? Why does God allow suffering? What evidence is there outside of the bible about Jesus? etc...

I think it is also very useful for new Christians who do not know about what backs up there new belief in Jesus as God.

For me.. looking at evidence behind Jesus' life, death and ressurection turned me away from combining Christianity with other religions.. like Hinduism and Buddhism. I was like a Hippie without the drugs :)
