The Adventist church was first considered a movement, not a denomination, because it particularly feared organization becoming "babylon" (speaking of the usage in Revelation).

The church taught that the people following God in their denominations who were sincere were saved and were "His people" but that we were to call them out of babylon to the new truths being discovered.

The upshot is, we believe that reform is progressive, and we are continuing that reform. We feel that anyone who is sincerely following God is part of the general church. And we appeal to them to continue reform as well and to consider new truths.

So the truth is the Adventist pioneers were in no way shy about saying they had the truth. In fact, they were like theological hammers, who loved to debate (it is all starting to make sense now isn't it? lol). Ellen White eventually rebuked them for this attitude because they were more into debate than grace.

But despite this, they recognized others as Christians and saw their movement as an extension of the reforms of Luther, Wesley etc.

Some in the church however do have the idea that only Adventists, or particularly Sabbath keeprs will be saved. But this is in no way an official teaching.

Although in an historical oddity the pioneers originally taught the "shut door" doctrine, holding that those who were not a part of the Millerite movement in 1844, which they likened to the approach of the bridegroom, had missed their chance and the door was shut. But they quickly realize that was quite untrue.

Do SDAs believe that members of the SDA church are the only ones going to Heaven?

I read something about this in a thread, and am looking for info.

Thanks!

That is not right at all, as far as I know it has never been what we believe.

There are many people who believe that, but it is not true.

I have watched the first session of "05Revive" by Pr Doug Batchelor and on there I heard him say that there will be many other people in heaven who are not SDA's.

I do not know where this comes from, but it does not come from the SDA Church.

Actually, anyone who thinks this is on his/her way to hell, because pride comes before the fall!
