  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Here in Carson City it's 49 degrees, windy, and raining. No birds are singing, no flowers blooming. Everything is a drab brown. Add to the fact that we have a war going on, and a sagging economy, and it makes it look even bleaker. Yet, even though it does looks bleak outside and we have the problems we do, it's still a wonderful day.

A lot of folks would tell me I'm crazy for thinking such a thing, but the truth of the matter is, these folks forget that the good Lord above is still watching over us, and is still in control. For a true Christian, every day is a wonderful day, because we realise that no matter how bad things may get, as long as we keep the faith and perservere through life's trials and tribulations, things are PROMISED to get better. And this promise is NOT made by a mere mortal that can't keep this promise. It is made by God Almighty, who has the ability to take even the worst situations and turn them around 100%. It just takes faith.

Let's take a look at Matthew 15: 22 -28:

22 And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.
23 But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.
24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
25 Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.
26 But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs.
27 And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table.
28 Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.

This is the type of faith God requires of us. Had the woman asked only once then went away, it would have shown a lack of faith. But, she perservered, and in doing so showed a great amount of faith and her request was granted. What a wonderful day for her and her daughter.

Now let's refer to my favorite, Romans 8:28, which says, "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." To love God is to show faith that HE is in control. Now isn't this a wonderful promise, that, regardless of the circumstances, just around the corner a wonderful day is heading our way?

So when life starts to get you down, and the weight of the world is on your shoulders, always remember, there's a wonderful day coming your way. And all it takes a little bit of faith.

God bless and KEEP THE FAITH,
