  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

So first off, I apologize if this was the wrong place to put this. It just didn't seem to fit anywhere.

So quick backstory. I don't exactly come from a Christian background. Sure I went to AWANA, and vacation Bible school when I was a kid buuut that is about it. Never gone to church except for my granddads funeral. Never been baptized. My dad isn't much of a Christian so he doesn't support it all that much. Anyway. Lately I have been really doubting my faith and if God is real. Then two nights ago I received a vision from the Lord. I don't understand it. Do you have any ideas on what it means?

I was standing in my backyard staring at the night sky. Then there was a sudden trumpet blast and the sky turned to fire, but there was no heat. The angels and Christ descended from the heavens, while the devil rose up from the earth. Christ met the devil and they began to fight. They rose up into the stars and I remember specifically, with each blow they exchanged, the stars from the constellation Orion fell from the sky. (At this point I realized I was lucid dreaming. Keep in mind I have wanted to lucid dream for months. But I could not move no matter how hard I tried. I could only watch Christ and Satan.) And soon, they came back to earth, with Christ as the champion. Then I woke up.

But no matter how hard I try I can not remember what any of them looked like. Christ, angels, Satan, I just remember shining white lights with vaguely humanoid figures. Satan being less bright, but he still shine with white light like the angels and Christ.

Got any ideas on what it means? I remember it all very vividly. And no Christ never said anything. I just beheld his countenance.

Revelation 12:
3 Then another sign appeared in heaven: and behold, a great red dragon having seven heads and ten horns, and on his heads were seven crowns. 4 And his tail *swept away a third of the stars of heaven and hurled them to the earth. ...
7 And there was war in heaven, Michael and his angels waging war with the dragon. The dragon and his angels waged war, 8 and they did not prevail, and there was no longer a place found for them in heaven. 9 And the great dragon was thrown down, the serpent of old who is called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him. 10 Then I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying,

“Now the salvation, and the power, and the kingdom of our God and the authority of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers and sisters has been thrown down, the one who accuses them before our God day and night. 11 And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even when faced with death. 12 For this reason, rejoice, you heavens and you who dwell in them. Woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has come down to you with great wrath, knowing that he has only a short time.”

13 And when the dragon saw that he was thrown down to the earth, he persecuted the woman who gave birth to the male Child. 14 But the two wings of the great eagle were given to the woman, so that she could fly into the wilderness to her place, where she *was nourished for a time, times, and half a time, away from the presence of the serpent. 15 And the serpent hurled water like a river out of his mouth after the woman, so that he might cause her to be swept away with the flood. 16 But the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and drank up the river which the dragon had hurled out of his mouth. 17 So the dragon was enraged with the woman, and went off to make war with the rest of her children, who keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus.

===================
So that's us.

17 So the dragon was enraged with the woman, and went off to make war with the rest of her children, who keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus.

Also, "... the Adversary himself masquerades as an angel of light;" II Cor 11:14

"And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God,
That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh;
Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
Your young men shall see visions,
Your old men shall dream dreams." Acts 2:17

(Wouldn't get hung up on the age terms of that verse)

Also, there's a "Spiritual Gifts" forum with a "Sign Gifts" forum that might interest you.

I've had a handful of visions. The night my father died he appeared in my room, and I've related that story often enough. It was more of an "apparition" than a vision as I was awake, or I should say woken up by something just before he started to "materialise" near the door.

The others have predominantly featured my Presbyterian pastor after he died. He'll turn up, briefly say something and then disappear again.

I also had one where the pastor and a Salvo who attended our church visited a former neighbour who was dying from cancer. I saw where they were standing, heard what was said and who said what. It purely concerned the neighbour's opinion of my father (not good) which was an answer to prayer, as I had previously prayed that the pastor might meet someone who knew my father and what he put us through. Obviously he did, and I had that vision confirmed by the pastor himself, who said that my description was exactly what happened. The former neighbour had lived two doors away for about seventeen years, so he was well aware of our family situation.

But that's about it. They've been down to earth, and involved people I knew quite well - my father once, the pastor in most cases, the former neighbour and the Salvo once each. Although I have had "someone" (?) turn up and say a few things, but I could probably count those on the fingers of one hand in 67 years.

I've had no "symbolic" visions along the lines of the strange scenario that you saw. Now it was either a deception, a dream, or God was trying to tell you He is real, that Christ is the truth, and it's time you did something about it.

The closest I've come to what might be called a "proof of God' was a "double whammy", a term used by a psychiatrist I used to see. Initially I saw him as I had depression, but it soon transpired we shared a number of spiritual experiences. So I kept seeing him for that reason. He'd had a "double whammy" himself. As a former protestant, now Catholic, he'd been running around an oval as a young bloke mulling over the question as to whether he should become Catholic or not. And that was when the "double whammy" hit him - he became Catholic.

The "double whammy" was like a breath going through me in waves from head to foot, very strong, very obvious and it sure didn't come from me. It wasn't the rather tepid "tingles" that I'm sure some of us get from head to toe in church sometimes, but much more powerful It came at a point when I was a new Christian and I was wondering if this new faith was for real, or just a psychological crutch?

God made it clear it was real, and I haven't been able to revert to atheism since. That was 40 years ago last Christmas. It happened twice more incidentally the following year, and hasn't happened again since. God's no chatterbox. On all three occasions it was used to highlight what was being said - the first time a reference to King David, the second a reference to St. Paul, and the third a reference to CS Lewis.

Assuming you're telling the truth, I think Christ was telling you He's real, but now He'll expect a response.
