A Time to be Drunk​

Some, however, made fun of them and said, "They have had too much wine (New Wine)." Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: "Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say. These men are not drunk, as you suppose. It's only nine in the morning! ACTS 2:13-15.To paraphrase (People as a rule do not get drunk and party at nine in the morning).​

May I say a good sign that the Holy Spirit is working in your life, is when there is rejoicing at the wrong time. When everything seems to be going badly and you celebrate God's grace. When all the odds seem to be against you and you laugh and dance. When you should be bitter and hateful according to your view of things and instead you love your enemies. My friend that is evidence of the Spirit's work in your life. Let me encourage you to rejoice and praise your Heavenly Father now. Trust Him to make all things right. Thank Him for His great gift of salvation. For His promise to never leave nor forsake you. For the truth that He saves to the uttermost. That there is no condemnation to those in Christ Jesus. That He has wrapped you in the perfect righteousness of His Dear Son. That your sins are forgiven. We have so much to thank Him for. My prayer child of God; Is that we will get to know the power of His resurrection, the fellowship of sharing in His sufferings, and becoming like Him in His death. For this my friend; Is the joy of the New Wine.​

Thanks Mel! That's so true!

I'll add too: when drunk in the Spirit, speak cautiously to others, though. Tonight, an older woman at church asked me a myriad of questions about my life's circumstances and as I answered, she began to look depressed and confused. Everything she interjected and did pointed to "but why are you so happy?!?!?" I had to look her, a fellow-believer, in the eyes and finish the last question with something like "And this is all in the hands, in the control, of Almighty God." This dear woman looked like she was ready to fall over! But soon enough, my confidence in our Lord became contagious and she began rejoicing too! [But DO use caution-she looked like she was about to have a heart attack!]

Most of us can hardly believe what He's ALREADY brought us through, let alone imagine all He WILL bring us through. When our focus is solely on Him and His Word, though, His promises can then become part of us and are imbedded into our thoughts and behaviour. The joy of the Lord IS our strength! It's so exciting to see what He'll do tomorrow that in such a realization, in fullness of thanksgiving and worship, how can we NOT become a little tipsy? If you can't rejoice in today, rejoice in tomorrow's use of today, for when we recognize we can do nothing and it is impossible for us but possible for God, that is the BEST PLACE TO BE! When we call on Him at such a time, that is when He will begin to reveal to you just how Sovereign He is. Never doubt, but believe and He will not fail to keep His promises!

Versatile, this thread wasn't about alcohol, it was about drunk IN THE SPIRIT.
