CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

No, bigots get called bigots. I agree that this man is a bigot (he basically lied in order to present gay relationships as worse that straight ones), but the award is a bit unnecessary. You can just as easily get the same attention by publicly drawing attention to and denouncing whatever nonsense he preaches next. Call him out on his lies, don't give him an award for them.
Also, neo-liberal is not the word you're looking for here. Neo-liberalism is an economic stance based on essentially leaving the market alone. I'll stop being picky now

Stonewalls are bigots aswell though, as they are shut off to his diffrence of opinion.

I'm afraid that's not how the word works. Bigotry is being intolerant and demeaning towards a group of people, and treating them with hatred. If Stonewall had said that Catholics are homophobes, or paedophiles, and treated them all with intolerance, that would be bigotry. Merely calling out someone as a bigot is not bigotry in itself.
As you long as you don't start treating them worse than others, and insulting them by lying and pretending that same-sex relationships are bad for you (such as this man did), then you're not a bigot by any definition I've ever heard of. You're merely someone who has an irrelevant opinion, and everyone has those.

Fair enough, just understand that anyone can reply to your posts, and don't get upset when they do.
If it was a nonpoint, you didn't understand it. Disagreement within a group does not affect a particular argument.

You get sick of the lies perpetuated by influential people to effect peoples rights.
While I think Stonewall having such an award is unnecessary and perhaps childish, I don' t think it misapplied. Safe to say Keith has a lot more sway on the general populous. A shame he doesn't understand the responsibilities that involves.

But you are understood by people with different agendas. The problem is that your outdated views are not supportable. The cardinal trotted out all the usual scaremonger arguments without providing a single shred of evidence to support any of his claims. If he wants to be taken seriously then he should bring something worthwhile and supportable to the debate, not just spout nonsense.
