A Singles Blessing...

Sometimes the blessing just comes out of the blue. I was blessed this last evening in that one of my married co-workers invited me home to have dinner with he and his wife. Yes, it was leftovers that had been reborn as soft-shell tacos... and it was a wonderful evening. We all talked from 8:30 to 11:30, joked, talked about personality types, and shared experiences. You can just forget how great it is to just spend time with people, particularly people you are getting to know, and people that enjoy your company. It was like a world that I had come to the conclusion was somewhere unreachable had opened up, pulled me in, and given me a hug and a firm handshake.

After a long day with all sorts of challenges, I came home energized and smiling. Indeed, a blessing! :^)

It is great when we get a blessing like that. When someone invites us to their home, and they are not just doing it, but they really want you to come, or you get a unexpected call from someone or email. Those are great! It makes one feel special, like you are important to someone else. It's nice.

I can't remember the last time something like that happened to me, but then again when was the last time I was a blessing to somene else? In the past year or so I have made a conscious effort to try to reach out to people more. I have realized that as a society we are way to self absorbed. Plus it's a really good feeling to do something unselfish for someone else. Many times we need somone else, but we have to remeber there are times when someone else may need us.
