Folks, Ben-Her, the 1959 version has to be one of my absolute favorites.
In this scene, we see that after Jesus gives up His Spirit, the rain starts.
As the rains starts, we see the rain hitting the cross, Jesus' precious blood, staining the cross.
But more than that, we see the rain mixing with His blood, and starts to flow down the cross, forming a stream, then flowing down to a creek, and so on. And the final part, a look back at Calvary, with the Sun breaking through!
This scene, I can never watch with crying. Sadness? No!
I cry of joy!
It magnifies my soul to the very quick. I want to jump! I want to shout! I want to praise His Holy name! I want the world to know!
Why?
Because,..that day on Calvary, a River of Life started flowing.
And even more remarkable, it is still flowing TODAY!
Everything we need, forgiveness, reconciliation, cleansing, salvation can be found that day!
But, it won't last forever.
Some day it will stop, and a dreadful day that will be.
Let us praise His Holy Name!
Let us Praise God for that River of Life that is still flowing.
