Hmm..

I'm not sure how I feel about evolution/creation. I don't believe in a literal 7-day creation, but I'm not sure evolution is right either.

Either way, God had a hand in creating the universe, and if evolution is true, it's because God chose for things to evolve.

And yes, I am a Christian (or otherwise I wouldn't be posting in these forums ;)).

Anyone who believes in evolution in this forum is also a Christian.

Theistic evolutionists believe that God used evolution as a method of creating.

I dont see what acceptance of a valid and useful scientific theory has to do with religion - Christian or otherwise.

IN addtion to evolution, I also accept the theory of Rayleigh Scattering to explain why the sky is blue, the theory of gravity (mass bending spacetime), big bang theory, the theory that conception occurs when a sperm and egg cell meet, and the theory that electricity is really electrons moving through metal. None of these are mentioned in the bible, but all are backed by sound evidence.

I've been debating with myself for almost my entire life about the theories of evolution and six day creation ( remember, He rested on the seventh day ). For quite some time, I did believe in evolution, as a theistic evolutionist. But, finally, I went through one year of intensive study on both sides. I've read books pro evolution, and books pro creation. I've come to terms with that theory of six day creation, as with all the evidence I've looked at, it has the most substance to it. Christ looked back on Adam and Eve as historical figures. Also, scientific theory is important to debate when it can contradict or even debunk our most holy of manuscripts.

a better question is "do you belive the bible is true"

i belive God may well have used evolution, but i also belive that the book of genisis, along with all the rest, are 100% true.

Not every one is on-board with that.

So in other words you believe that evolution happenned in 6 days?

Believe in is possibly the wrong word - do we speak of "believing in" atomic theory or the germ theory of disease? But either way, it's time to expand your imagination, because millions of Christians do accept mainstream science, including evolution.

Perhaps you could explain why you find this so unimaginable?

i dont believe God created earth in 7 literal days though
Well, that's a good start. Having established an agreement that Genesis 1 does not have to be literally true, what is the problem with evolution?

Why does one have to stretch one's belief in God's word, warping the meaning around a theory, when one can just find a theory to match what we already know is true: God's Word? The theory of the six-day creation (and again, I say that because He rested on the seventh day), is a valid one, and the evidence supporting it isn't that bad. May I suggest In Six Days? It's a book, a collection of essays by fifty scientists who believe in a literal translation of Genisis Chapter One.

Why? Probably because it makes more logical sense and is the evidence left behind in Creation.

Another one of these. The only literal Word of God is Jesus. Everything else is God speaking to us through human mediators. God did not see it fit that those who testify to him in the Scriptures should know everything about science and history. In the creation account, the intended message is surely not the literal history of the beginnings of the universe, our earth, and its creatures, because his other testimony, the Creation, contradicts such a reading.

You can find fifty scientists who believe almost anything, especially if they proudly look through the lens of a religion or ideology when they examine, verify, or disregard data. If I were you (and I once was), I'd be interested also in the Christian scientists who believe a recent six-day creation is hooey.

Well, now we get to the real problem. You don't actually know what the theory of evolution is saying.

Evolution is not about us all being here by chance, without a purpose. The theory of evolution says nothing of the sort.

Evolution says nothing about the creation of the earth and certainly does not say that earth was created by a fluke.

Even the bible says we are animals. Why should it upset a Christian if science says the same? I mean, if we are not animals, what are we? Ferns?

And evolution does not say that there ought to be half-man, half-apes running around.

In short, you are opposing a lot of ideas which deserve to be opposed. But for some reason you have attached the name "evolution" to these ideas.

These ideas are not ideas connected with evolution. Anyone who says they are is either just as ignorant of evolution as you are or is trying to mislead you.

Now, maybe you ought to begin by learning what the theory of evolution is really about.

so your saying man didnt evolve from apes??? hence evolving at some point there should be halh/half around should they not? isnt the big bang theory and life created on earth dont by chance?? or has evoluyionists changed there scope on this? what is the supposed "theory" that evolutionsits are saying is right this time?
