A question, if I may....

Good evening, friends

It has been some time since I posted here, and I hope all of you are well.

To my question. As near as I can tell, there are two Seventh Day Adventist Churches in my home town. I drove past one this afternoon, and noticed that the sign out front said it was a Sharon Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Is Sharon a separate sect? The Sharon Church is in a predominately African American neighborhood. Is this the difference?

I chose all the others because I think something of importance is associated with "Sharon" - which means plain.

Long time no talk. Good to see you again.

Perhaps I may be able to shed some light on your question. The key words in your post were:

"The Sharon Church is in a predominately African American neighborhood."

It is not uncommon for predominately black congregations to add a distinctive name for their paticular church group to the name of SDA much like an additional identifying name is used with most Catholic churchs as well as many other protestant denominations. It would be my educated guess, without checking futher, that the church in question has adopted the name "Sharon" as an identification for their paticular church group.

I drive past the Sharon SDA Church in Omaha pretty often. I have friends that live within a couple of blocks of this Church.

I live within a fifteen minute walk of the other SDA Church in town, and stopped there a few times for literature back when I first started moderating this forum.
