  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Serious question -

I understand that healing is not necessarily instantaneous. If I pray in faith...believe and receive my healing, but continue to have some symptoms when I visit my doctor, what do I say when he asks how I'm feeling? I understand that I shouldn't give word to the symptoms so what do I tell the doctor?

That's a great question. Faith is what you believe in your heart, and inevitably it comes out of our mouth. To report a symptom to a doctor who is most likely able to diagnose the root of it is, in my opinion, not a big deal in itself. In Romans we're told whatever is not of faith is sin. Therefore I would settle it first whether I would even go to the doctor, and what doctor I would go to if I did. Is he born-again, of like faith? Is he a naturopathic physician, or will he needlessly load me up with pharmeceuticals that harm my body. "Where do you want me to go, Lord?" is the question.

Just because you visit the doctor and tell him your symtoms doesn't indicate a lack of faith.

I would keep the Word before my eyes, by all means, and healing CDs playing.

Tell him the facts. Your physical body gets broken, gets sickened. There's no denying that when it has happened, and it's not a statement of great faith to say that you aren't when you are. There's a difference between speaking "negative confessions" and speaking the facts.

Negative Confession: "Oh man, I'm gonna get sick from being out in this cold weather too long."
Fact: "I got a sore throat from staying out in the cold weather too long."

Bear in mind, a negative confession can bring about its truth. What we bind on earth is bound in Heaven, and what we loose on earth is loosed in Heaven, being it healing or sickness. It goes both ways.

I heard it explained this way before, too. God will use whatever we need to grow our faith into the manifestation of healing. Ever hear of a placebo effect? That's faith that medicine is working. I know several great men, Brother Kenneth Hagin Sr included, who after being healed from his disease, did not need Doctoral or medicinal healing, but rather knew the order of authority and that if his Spirit was submitted to God, then it would reign over his body and he could by faith recieve healing if needed.

I am a Worship Leader, and I am very keen to pains and such in my throat, vocal areas, and my hands and fingers (sing / guitar). When I even notice something that would feel like it is going to "lead" to a certain outcome, I start immediately building my faith against it by speaking positive confessions.

The facts: my throat is starting to hurt.
The Positive Confession: I thank you God for providing the healing I need to continue in the ministry which You've called me. I recieve that healing and if there is somethign within me that is hindering me from recieveing, I pray for sensitivity towards Holy Spirit to show me what it is, so that I may submit that part of my life to you, and receive the fullness of what you have already done for me."

This is how I do it. Others may view differently.

edit: Changed "truth" to "fact" for consistency... and I don't mean thickness!

Thank you both for clarification. I've been going through some rough stuff and I don't want to do or say anything to lose my blessing. I'm not a kid, but I am still learning.
God bless you both.

I haven't quite figured out how to navigate this site, but I'm so glad I found it.

I've been taught that the fact is your throat hurts. The truth is you are healed by Jesus' stripes.

Not trying to argue, just bringing up what is taught by "WoF" teachers. Truth will change facts. Truth is unchangeable. It is eternal. God's Word is truth. And that is what is written.

Cindy is very correct. I'll edit my post as such because, well, the Truth will set you free!!

Hey Jeff, I took a look at your profile, and wanted to welcome you into the family of God, Praise the Lord brother.

I thought i would share a little testimony of walking in the Holy Spirit which includes excellent health, body, soul, and spirit. Take a look at Galations chapter 5&6 after reading this.

I was born again in 1980, and came up in a very Spirit filled church for the first 8 years, and walked in very good health, but i was in my twenties and early thirties, We[my wife and I and 3 boys] were a very blessed family.

In 1987, a freind of mine introduced me to the WoF teaching[of which basically is standing on and confessing the Word of God over our circumstances], well, I got an oppurtunity to go into sales[i was a mechanic in my dads auto repair shop of which i didn't like to well] so i went into insurance sales by faith and i tripled my income the first year. The problem was, my first church fell apart and the money went to my head and fell away from the Lord, we lost everything we owned in 8 months. We repented and came back to Jesus, and since, He has restored everything, but the real restoration didn't really happen until 1998 when i was refilled with the Holy Spirit at a pentecostal church.

In between i went to, what i call now, a dead church, where they had a few songs and a teaching from the Word, but their wasn't any power flowing. The result[of which is the thread subject] was i began to walk in depression, worry, and a lot of sickness

When i got refilledwith the Spirit at the pentecostal church and began again to practice the WoF teaching i have since become more than a conquerer thru Him who loves me! Romans 8:37 I never get sick[hey, i wonder if demons can read], and if i feel any symptoms i spend alot of time in the Holy Spirit and stand on the Word and the sickness is expelled in Jesus name!!!!!

Here is a key verse in the bible:

2 cor 3:6 He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant--not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

When we mix the Word with the Spirit, it becomes like dynamite power!

It is of vitale importance to be in a powerful spirit filled church that stands on and speaks the Word of faith and then live it daily:amen:

something that i've found out over the years is (and i don't know the 'why' of it) but the physical symptoms will announce their presence first, like they're along side of you but not yet in your body--you can sense them spiritually--and it's then that you want to reject them and claim your healing in Christ Jesus.
once you begin to say 'I feel sick' or 'i have a sore throat comming on' that's an invitation for that sickness to come right in. and once it's in it will be harder to fight off.

I have experienced being prayed for relief and healing from pain and had the pain disappear only to try and come back later.i never said 'oh i feel pain'. what i did was to declare right that minute that i was healed and that the pain had no right to be in my body.
and you know what? it left.

so my answer would be before i went to the doctor i would address the symptoms (call them by name) and tell them they had no right to be in my body and that in Jesus' name they have to leave; that you refuse them entrance or habitation in your body, and you're kicking them out. then when they leave begin to praise God for everything that He's done, praise Him for the healing, for your salvation, for your relationship in Him, and give Him glory and honor. Pray in tongues if you can, but be sure to praise Him. That will strengthen and build up your spirit and make it a toxic place for sickness to inhabit.

now that's not to say that we shouldn't avail ourselves of medicine as an extra preventitive (like flu shots) but an ounce of spiritual preventitive is worth a pound of medicinal cure.

While we're on the subject, I declare my healing now. I'm telling back pain to go. I worked way too hard yesterday, and now I'm beyond sore. Nevertheless, I walk by faith and not by sight. I'm healed, and that's my final answer.

Lots of good advice on this thread already.

You simply tell your doctor what your symptoms are, this is not a negative confession its the facts.

Mark 11:23 tells us to speak to the mountain not deny that the mountain is there, you do not deny symptoms but you speak to them and deny their right to stay in your body.

But this has already been mentioned, there are lots of wise Wof folks on this board.

I agree. Look at it in regards to prosperty. The truth is that we are prosperous but the fact may be that you only have $100 in your bank account. Don't mail any $5,000 "truth checks"!
