If you were given absolute proof that your religion is false, would you abandon your religion?
Edit-Since there seems to be confusion over the above question I have rephrased it below.
If you were given a convincing argument based on empiricism and/or logical reasoning that your religion was false, would you abandon your religion?

Thank you for answering my question.
yes I would abandon my faith if It was proven false.
you've been lurking the singles forum havent you? that quote by Baam is less than an hour old
Similar question to you, what if you find out that all your loved ones are realy HORIBLE MONSTERS planning to DESTROY the Earth , would YOU KILL all of them to save the Earth from Destrucrtion?
WOULD YOU KILL YOUR OWN MOTHER
Would you butcher you one mother with a butcher knife it you "were given reasonable facts that the ONLY way to save the Earth was to BUTCHER you own mother" ?
A similar question? Are you serious?
Yes I am serious, I think I was asking very simialr question.
Thank you for answering my question.
Would you be so kind to point out the similarities please?
For Christian proposition that his Religion is wrong is just as odd as asking him what he kill his own mother if would find that she is a monster.
For a Christian both are just as odd and unlikely.
You asked very odd and unlikely question and I asked just as odd and unprobable question back.
The most sacred act is seeing things as they are.
I don't know if I'd call that sacred, but it is quite practical.
To really face the Truth... is the hardest thing any human can do. It's more than practical; it's divine.
Facing the truth isn't difficult at all. Personally, I strive to understand as many true things as possible, while not believing as many false things as possible.
And yes, it's practical.... Knowledge is a great thing. There's nothing to suggest it, or anything else however is divine.
If facing the truth isn't difficult, may I ask whether you have forgiven yourself and others utterly? That is part and parcel of knowing the truth.
What am I forgiving myself, or others of? And how does that matter when attempting to learn what is true about the world?
As jesus said, he is the truth, the way, the life..
