I understand. But pre-Christian Jews prayed to the Word of the Lord, who sat on a throne. And then he became flesh in the form of Jesus of Nazareth.
THROUGHOUT the centuries, many in Christendom have worshiped Jesus Christ as if he were Almighty God.
Jesus himself, however, directed attention and worship only to Jehovah God.
For example, when prodded to do an act of worship to the Devil, Jesus said: It is Jehovah your God you must worship, and it is to him alone you must render sacred service. (Matthew 4:10)
Later Jesus instructed his disciples: Do not call anyone your father on earth, for one is your Father, the heavenly One.Matthew 23:9.
To a Samaritan woman, Jesus described the type of worship that individuals must give to God.
Their worship must be based on spirit and truth.
Indeed, the Father is looking for suchlike ones to worship him. (John 4:23, 24)
Yes, reverent adoration should be expressed only to God.
To render worship to anyone or anything else would be a form of idolatry, which is condemned in both the Hebrew and the Greek Scriptures.Exodus 20:4, 5; Galatians 5:19, 20.
(Philippians 2:10, 11) 10 so that in the name of Jesus every knee should bendof those in heaven and those on earth and those under the ground 11 and every tongue should openly acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father.
Who Glory and worship is Jesus directing us to?
See the quote from Deuteronomy in Targum Pseudo-Jonathan, a Jewish Aramaic study bible.Since when? They feared and called upon his name, As in Abraham, leaning on his staff and worshipping his name.
See the quote from Deuteronomy in Targum Pseudo-Jonathan, a Jewish Aramaic study bible.
This is related to the surprising discovery I learned of a few years ago: that the concept of a Jewish godhead was commonplace in Jesus' time, and was not considered unorthodox. Wild stuff, but well-documented and researched: Two Powers in Heaven.
The upshot is that when John wrote "and the Word became flesh and lived among us", any Jew of the time would've instantly realized that John was claiming that Jesus was an appearance of YHWH in the flesh.
I sometimes think that if Charles Taze Russell had been familiar with this material, the Jehovah's Witnesses might still be orthodox.
I can see that Bible prophesy is not your strong point.
(Matthew 24:14) 14 And this good news of the Kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.
I notice you haven't mention the Kingdom once.
No he didn't, a common mainc error. He is the God of Israel, And the KIngdom belongs to the children of the covenant. Look ye in Genesis, And onwards, there lies the good news of the Kingdom. Not in John, or Revelations, but in the covenant the Lord has made with Israel.
Yes Spiritual Israel not literal Israel
With the exception of a small remnant, the nation of natural Israel rejected Jesus Christ as the Mediator of the new covenant.
Thus the house of Israel with which God made the foretold new covenant proved to be a spiritual Israel, the Israel of God. (Galatians 6:16)
That spiritual Israel was brought to birth on the day of Pentecost, 33 C.E. Being spiritual, it could take into its citizenship believing non-Jews, or Gentiles. (Acts 15:14) Peter addressed it as a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for special possession.
Yet those prophesying were of Israel. A peculiar treasure unto the Lord. Make no mistake. He is the God of Israel. And Jesus was sent to the lost sheep of Israel.
The Law has instructions on what peoples are allowed into the sanctuary, and
Moavites aren't there.

I did not have much interest in entering this discussion but wanted to offer a specific point of correction –
No Greek NT manscripts have the quote Spiritandtruth2 is offering.
Not one use the term “It is Jehovah your God you must worship…”.
Instead, all known significant texts in critical texts read “Κυριον τον θεον...” (i.e. “The Lord God” or “Lord, the God” ) which Jesus says one must worship (Codex Bezae / D leaves out the word "God"). There is no “Jehovah” in this sentence in any variants.
Clear
P.S. If anyone IS aware of ANY authentic greek manuscript which reads “Jehovah” in this verse, I would be VERY interested to have the reference as it would represent a wonderful new discovery.

Most of the Jews did not want to know, they even put God's son Jesus to death, that is why Jesus said in advance of that happening.
(Matthew 23:37-39) 37 Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the killer of the prophets and stoner of those sent to herhow often I wanted to gather your children together the way a hen gathers her chicks under her wings! But you did not want it. 38 Look! Your house is abandoned to you. 39 For I say to you, you will by no means see me from now until you say, Blessed is the one who comes in Jehovahs name!
That is why we see the destruction of the whole Jewish system back in 70 C.E. what do think this really meant with regards to Israel that you speak about.
Yet those prophesying were of Israel. And that quote goes :Blessed is he who comes in the name of Adonai.
Did The Lord not proclaim his name to Moses? The Lord, The Lord God.
5 And the Lord descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the Lord.
6 And the Lord passed by before him, and proclaimed, The Lord, The Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth,
7 Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.
8 And Moses made haste, and bowed his head toward the earth, and worshipped.
9 And he said, If now I have found grace in thy sight, O Lord, let my Lord, I pray thee, go among us; for it is a stiffnecked people; and pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us for thine inheritance.
10 And he said, Behold, I make a covenant: before all thy people I will do marvels, such as have not been done in all the earth, nor in any nation: and all the people among which thou art shall see the work of the Lord: for it is a terrible thing that I will do with thee.
11 Observe thou that which I command thee this day: behold, I drive out before thee the Amorite, and the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Hivite, and the Jebusite.
This is good news. And this too.
12 Take heed to thyself, lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land whither thou goest, lest it be for a snare in the midst of thee:
13 But ye shall destroy their altars, break their images, and cut down their groves:
14 For thou shalt worship no other god: for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God:
15 Lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and they go a whoring after their gods, and do sacrifice unto their gods, and one call thee, and thou eat of his sacrifice;
16 And thou take of their daughters unto thy sons, and their daughters go a whoring after their gods, and make thy sons go a whoring after their gods.
17 Thou shalt make thee no molten gods.
18 The feast of unleavened bread shalt thou keep. Seven days thou shalt eat unleavened bread, as I commanded thee, in the time of the month Abib: for in the month Abib thou camest out from Egypt.
19 All that openeth the matrix is mine; and every firstling among thy cattle, whether ox or sheep, that is male.
20 But the firstling of an ass thou shalt redeem with a lamb: and if thou redeem him not, then shalt thou break his neck. All the firstborn of thy sons thou shalt redeem. And none shall appear before me empty.
21 Six days thou shalt work, but on the seventh day thou shalt rest: in earing time and in harvest thou shalt rest.
22 And thou shalt observe the feast of weeks, of the firstfruits of wheat harvest, and the feast of ingathering at the year's end.
23 Thrice in the year shall all your menchildren appear before the Lord God, the God of Israel.
24 For I will cast out the nations before thee, and enlarge thy borders: neither shall any man desire thy land, when thou shalt go up to appear before the Lord thy God thrice in the year.
25 Thou shalt not offer the blood of my sacrifice with leaven; neither shall the sacrifice of the feast of the passover be left unto the morning.
26 The first of the firstfruits of thy land thou shalt bring unto the house of the Lord thy God. Thou shalt not seethe a kid in his mother's milk.
27 And the Lord said unto Moses, Write thou these words: for after the tenor of these words I have made a covenant with thee and with Israel.
28 And he was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights; he did neither eat bread, nor drink water. And he wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the ten commandments.
29 And it came to pass, when Moses came down from mount Sinai with the two tables of testimony in Moses' hand, when he came down from the mount, that Moses wist not that the skin of his face shone while he talked with him.
30 And when Aaron and all the children of Israel saw Moses, behold, the skin of his face shone; and they were afraid to come nigh him.
31 And Moses called unto them; and Aaron and all the rulers of the congregation returned unto him: and Moses talked with them.
32 And afterward all the children of Israel came nigh: and he gave them in commandment all that the Lord had spoken with him in mount Sinai.
33 And till Moses had done speaking with them, he put a vail on his face.
34 But when Moses went in before the Lord to speak with him, he took the vail off, until he came out. And he came out, and spake unto the children of Israel that which he was commanded.
35 And the children of Israel saw the face of Moses, that the skin of Moses' face shone: and Moses put the vail upon his face again, until he went in to speak with him.

Hi Spiritandtruth2;
None of your posted "answer" changes the point. Your quote of this specific verse is incorrect.
My point was NOT that your theology is correct or incorrect and I am NOT trying to express any sentiment against any specific Christian movement. I think many of the JW points are correct. I am merely saying your quote, as you quoted it, does not exist in any known greek new testament or fragment/papyri that is listed in modern critical texts. In this specific verse, you will want to quote it differently if you want your quote to be correct.
Again, if anyone knows about the existence of ANY greek fragment or greek NT papyri that shows otherwise, I would be very, very interested to hear about it.
Spiritandtruth2, I wish you a wonderful spiritual journey.

Spiritandtruth2 :
You are offering a lot of irrelevant claims that have NOTHING to do with correcting your mistake.
Do you know of a single Greek manuscript, papyri or even a Greek fragment that actually has the word "jehovah" in the verse where you attempted to quote it? Does ANYONE in the forum know of ANY such fragment or manuscript?
That is the point. You are trying to add a word into the text that does not exist. IF you do not know of any greek text that actually has "jehovah" in this spot, then that is fine, otherwise, the irrelevant stream of claims does not correct your mistake.
