A priest notes that the Disney series "Star Wars: Andor" is more about here and now than "long ago, far, far away."

To be sure, the writer Tony Gilroy says that he drew incidents from many instances of rebellion over the last couple of hundred years, and especially the last hundred in which authoritarian regimes surged. The second (and final) season debuts on April 22, but the first season is stunning.

That's brilliant - and I have shared on my FB wall and a family chat.

Also - if you're down about Putin and the world scene - do you ever just turn that WEIRD Andor season 2 trailer up for the music? It's the first time I've seen a Star Wars trailer that uses a rock song - but given how distressed I am about what happened to Zelenskyy in the Oval Office recently - I'm seeing it as a call to rebellion myself! It's not a song - but a war cry!

Turn it up loud!

The score of the first season of Andor was monumental in its use to reinforce the structure of the plot. Star Wars music hasn't been this uniquely nuanced with the plot since the original A New Hope.

Yes - how it all came together in the funeral march? That was amazing writing as well as a great musical score.

Also - I can't get the jail freedom chant out of my mind - because as the priest above mentioned - he knew all along that he could not join them in the "One way out!" (It actually made and sometimes makes me cry. Andy Serkis did a great job with that role! It's not just that role - but a whole bunch of other pathos from other WW2 movies that it draws on - and some personal trauma as well. Brilliant for a Star Wars series - where we've had some real wasted potential in other Star Wars shows.)

But what did you first make of the Andor Season 2 trailer with a rock song attached?

This was a very prescient video. He hadn't even seen season 2 yet, which proved his point a dozen times over.
