  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi all, just find out a funny trend on my dog, Hockey, aged 10 months, male. He has this habit on peeing in front of people (anyhow spraying...if you know what I mean...) when he is excited. This happens mostly when we came home and he is happy to see us....too happy i supposed..

Is it common for a dog to do that? urinate uncontrollablely? This is the first time I have a male dog....

Actually ya i had a dog named cody he was 3yrs old and had a really hard time controlling him self so befor any one came over, or right when i got home from school i took him out side so he could go befor he went in side the house. He got used to it after a while and didnt pee when he got so excited. Plus you still have a puppy and it might be the over excitement thats making him do it.
hope i helped ^__^

A friend recently adopted a retired greyhound. He normally pees a river (sorry so blunt). Yesterday she had him with her when she came to visit. I'm so glad I bought Natures Miracle for the accidents my puppy was having because this 90 pound greyhound had two "accidents" in my house. He's only been off the track for 2 months or so so maybe he will soon get over it. He's 2 and has decided he loves this off track life. So I think being excited is what caused it.

I would just ask the vet and see what he/she thinks. If nothing is wrong physically then maybe as the pup gets older it will pass. Our puppy (5 months) was doing it when we first got him. Leaving spotted shirts behind when you picked him up. He doesn't anymore so I guess we're lucky. Good luck!

First suggestion, have him neutered if he hasn't been already. Many dogs urinate when they are excited or nervous. I had a female that had a problem with submissive peeing when I first got her, but that went away in about two weeks with some work. I would get your boy checked out at a vet, could be some sort of bladder problem. He's also still a puppy, so he may grow out of it. Do you crate him or gate him off into a bathroom when you're gone? That may help, if you crate him and then when you get home, immediately let him outside. Don't make a big fuss about getting home, don't say "hi" to him or anything until he's gone outside. Eventually he should get over it

Sir Peesalot used to do that a lot too. It's something they do when they get either excited or scared, depending. My Rotty Zeus the Moose will do it when he's been bad and you scold him. Very rare now, but it does happen.

I wouldn't worry about it. Just clean it up and don't say too much to the dog. He'll grow out of it if you're nice to him :)
