A Peavey drum...

Question, recently my parents told me I "MIGHT" get a drumset, I'd pay half and they'd pay the other half kind of deal. Right now I'm looking at a Peavey International II set. It looks real nice, lately my parents told me that there's a set called a Peavey Vibe, or a Peavey Verb? I'm not quite sure which one it is.

I'm wondering, am I making the right move by looking at a Peavey or not?

Hey Man,

Our Drummer has been using a Peavey for almost 10 yrs. And they are(typically) great sounding kits, they hold great sound for many years. From my experience, alot of Kits, ie TAMA,can loose there sound and value quite quickly but Peavey seemed to hold really well..

Can I suggest looking at a new or 2nd hand Export Series. Great drum kit, perfect for begginer>advanced! And hold their sound just perfectly!

Hope I have been of some help. LATER

I bought a drum kit last year, its a Rogers XP-8 series that was made in the 70's. if you ask me, that is the king of all vintage sets. Rogers set the standard for hardware that you could lock in the same position everytime you set up your kit. Everytime i set up my kit its exactly the same as last time. http://mavweb.mnsu.edu/kellaj1/Drums.htm

Check out that site and itll show you my kit

I would personally see about dishing out a few extra bucks for a low end DW set. It may cost like $100 more but the value is 2 million times better.

Oh trust me, I know that DW's make one of the best sets out there and I beleive even Neil Peart uses one... But for a first drumset I don't think I can afford to pay that much money, expecially when I'm sticking the drumset in my room which really isn't that large either... Thanks for the advice though.

My thoughts are too invest in a price range between 300 - 600 dollars and when I get good and live in my own house to either add on to the set or purchase a new DW and add on to it then...

God as blessed me with allot of jobs, I worked with my dad last summer, I mowed three lawns and worked for another nice guy the year before last. I couldn't have done it without God.

I'm not really worried about it, my max for buying things will be $150 to 200 dollars and it won't be every few months, but I do have expectations of buying stuff for it every six months to a year. I'm not going to start saying I'm going to buy stuff for it though, I don't have it yet and don't want to start jumping to conclutions.

Pearl's are really good, but I liked the Peavey too, which set do you have?

Oh, this set comes with cymbols, a thrown and two sticks. Man, I can't say it enough. God has blessed me. I'm still not sure if I'll be getting one yet, it's all in God's hands.

Im not saying you have to get a pro kit, just somthing better then the cheapest **** they sell on ebay. You will end up spending money on broken hardware instead of new drumheads. and to let you know, drumheads will only get you so far when it comes to sound quality, a lot of it has to do with the shell and ammount of plies.

if you wanna know more bout this, goto pearldrum.com and search...

hope you can get a set, cause im hoping for one too!

oh and what 72_chev_truck was talking about
i agree with him completely.

just think about it. if there are THAT many on ebay at low prices, it means two things

1) this item is trashy and it doesnt sell
2) this item is very trashy and it doesnt sell
3) this item is the trashiest and it doesnt sell at all

lol ok nm that. if you think about it, if there are that many out there and no one buys, it wouldnt be good would it? just watch out, some of those sets can really be cruddy

well...seeing as im a HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT and i dont have high-paying JOBS and i would never ask my PARENTS for something that much, thanks for completely INSULTING my taste of drums. Just be reminded we are here to help ElectricStorm to get a decent drumset and not commenting on our taste of drums.

Im not insulting your taste of drums, I HAVE TO GIG MY DRUMS every week, i need it to hold up under all conditions. Im a college student, do you think i have a high paying job? i have time for about 15 hours a week at a whopping $7 an hour. I think a high school student could make that.
