Gosh if y'all are this picky about non christians posting alongside of you, I'd hate to see what you're like if one walks into your church.

Amen.... disgusting behavior..... then again, I've seen that too in churches.... these same types

I do not agree. Nor does the majority of this site.

Are they losing their friends? Are you not able to be friends unless you both are "important" or a moderator? There's PMs, email, IMs.... or do you need an elusive forum to communicate?

It is sad that staff thinks they are better than everyone else
It's sad that you have such a low opinion of staff, I don't know a single person on staff who thinks that being a mod makes them important or better than anyone else.

I see it differently. My saying you can't understand it because you're not on staff is like a soldier telling a civilian that she can't really explain what it's like to be at war in a way the civilian could understand at a visceral level. Or trying to explain the feeling of loss to someone who has never buried a parent.

I don't think we think we're "more special" or more "in the know" than the general membership. We ARE members. And like all members here, we hang out in particular forums, and spend most of our online time here posting with a fairly small group of posters. For me, I hang out primarily in the Lutheran forum, the Spirit-filled forum, and the Theology Team forum. All of those have become "family" to me.

But one of them is a staff forum, where I don't just discuss stuff and fellowship with them, but I work closely with them to try to serve this community as a whole. I spend more time in Theology Staff than anywhere else, because we get a LOT of reports to work. We're not just friends who have friendly discussions about family and theology. We're co-workers, with common processes, goals, and hopes. What we do impacts other members in a way that is different from just carrying on a discussion with them in a thread.

It's been implied over and over, first in many DR threads and now with this move, that we're obviously power-hungry megalomaniac who get our jollies out of harassing anyone who dares question our master plan for Christian takeover of the world.

Well, not really, but it sure feels that way sometimes. And, at 2:30 in the morning after reading all this, and seeing so many members and staff who plan to leave, it's discouraging.

*sighs*

That being said, I think most of these changes will be good ones in the long run. The next few months are going to be very nerve-wracking, though, as we get our feet under us again.

Perhaps it would be like a loyal member being IP banned for quoting the Bible . If that is how they feel I would sympathise with them

That's what I thought as well...

Or have we been lied to?
No site is 100% Christian. No church is 100% Christian. This site is still keeping its core values. The majority of this site, are true Christians. Erwin knows this, and trusts that the votes will represent that.

9As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector's booth. "Follow me," he told him, and Matthew got up and followed him. 10While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew's house, many tax collectors and "sinners" came and ate with him and his disciples. 11When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, "Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and 'sinners'?"
12On hearing this, Jesus said, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. 13But go and learn what this means: 'I desire mercy, not sacrifice.'[a] For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners."

He calls a sinner into his service, and he eats with sinners.

16"To what can I compare this generation? They are like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling out to others:
17" 'We played the flute for you,
and you did not dance;
we sang a dirge
and you did not mourn.' 18For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, 'He has a demon.' 19The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, 'Here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and "sinners." ' But wisdom is proved right by her actions."

CF is sure heading that way, isn't it? We wouldn't want to offend anyone by quoting Scripture or upholding a Creed? Naw, let's be post-modern and use reason and throw the Bible off to the side?

Erwin has joined the new craze among Christians; he's emergent and post-modern.

My opinion: avoid fellowship with those who wish to reject the inerrancy of Scripture.

28"What do you think? There was a man who had two sons. He went to the first and said, 'Son, go and work today in the vineyard.' 29" 'I will not,' he answered, but later he changed his mind and went.
30"Then the father went to the other son and said the same thing. He answered, 'I will, sir,' but he did not go.
31"Which of the two did what his father wanted?"
"The first," they answered.
Jesus said to them, "I tell you the truth, the tax collectors and the prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God ahead of you. 32For John came to you to show you the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him, but the tax collectors and the prostitutes did. And even after you saw this, you did not repent and believe him.

So the church doesn't do the work of reaping the harvest, someone else will do it.
