A Lying Tongue

17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, {A proud…: Heb. Haughty eyes}"

Interesting that the Lord HATES a LYING tongue, and not only that but ranks it along side "hands that shed innocent blood". But after all, many times that is exactly what a lying tongue does.

As Christians we need to be careful what we promise others, especially when we have no intent of keeping that word. I have had many "Christians" promise me things recently and failed to deliver. I find it more than a little discouraging. I am so sorry for those Christians that think they have a handle on everything and can do no wrong, and yet seem oblivious to the simple COMMANDS Jesus put in writing, in the Book of St. John.

May I suggest that we all re-read what Jesus says is the way we are to live.

Father, open the eyes of the Spiritually blind and melt the hearts of steel, and fill them with Love and a desire to be more like Jesus, in whose Name I ask it.

I have to agree with you Gerry, we should never take a promise we make to someone else lightly. And just because we know God works in our life, in no way means that we are perfect.

I cannot believe it, it just happened again. Every time when I am in a crises and God gives me a scripture Gerry posted something about it with the very same scripture references. I can make a list about it.

A few weeks ago we went to visit people, the wife, a beautiful child of God, in a gruesome battle to stand for her faith and her 'born again' husband. They started to drink heavily and in this time two persons I know starts to brag about murders they commit before their marriages. I felt so sick in my spirit and stil don't know how to handle it. I wrestle with this knowledge now for a few weeks and to tell the truth if feel like running away. Sunday God gave me this very same scripture.

18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

What scripture is appropriate to pray in such a case? Both clamed to be born again and prayed for the sick and they did recover. They went out this very same night and got involved in a bar fight to teach the young guy with them to kill.


Hebrews 6:4 _For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,
5 _And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,
6 _If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

1 John 5:16 If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.

As you say, both CLAIMED to be born again, but were they? God knows! Remember that for every gift of God satan has a counterfeit and satan is oh soooooo good at his craft of deception.

Yes Sharky, and I am both thrilled and humbled by it! God is good and uses His children to minister to each other. You may find this hard to believe, but you have also ministered to me through your talent with your Sharky character. I still see that Book in your future, that will minister to many.
