Here's my problem: I am in the planning stages of writing what I kind of hope will someday be a published book. The only problem is that right now it seems that the name that work best for the main character is my real name. It is a very common name.
I wonder if it would be too awkward for a character to have my real name, if people would think that I am trying to insert myself into the story. The story is in first person narration, so this could be a larger danger, but the character has some personal issues in this story that I really would not want people thinking I have.
For a majority of the story she does not go by her real name, but one character uses it all the time, and her name is part of a major theme in this story.
Any thoughts? All opinions are welcome.
