This is sort of a slightly disturbing thing. I wonder if i should share it with some people at a church because it bothers me a little as well as other unmentionable things that were said:

I know a person who said that they wished someone would murder trump. I heard her say it before. I was in the car with her. Her and her husband were in the back seat and their friend was in the front seat. I said “I heard you say that before about that trump should be killed”, they didn’t say anything but maybe seemed to laugh. The person in the front seat said “don’t give us any ideas”. So I said “oh is that how democracy is supposed to work, you kill people?”. They didn’t say anything

Yes you should share it with pastoral staff. Let them know that sermons need to make it clear to the congregation that there is a big difference between Christianity - and evil.

No matter one's political views - they should not give in to the temptation to join in Satan's army of haters, of wishing for murder. Matt 5 says to think it - is to be guilty of it.

It is not just "two people in a car" -- it is a "culture" of thinking that way as if the Bible goes into limbo if the topic is about a political opponent.

What a horrible thing to say. This is where misguided thoughts have led us on both sides of the aisle. The fact christians are part of it is horrendous. How does loving Jesus equal killing a political candidate?

You should speak with the appropriate people at church and pray for the Lord's correction for everyone involved. We should not be jesting about murdering anyone.

... does this person who said this sort of thing identify as a Christian?

I posted the same thing on a survivalist telegram channel and someone said:

“Democracy is soft communism, and commies aren't people”

I don’t agree with that either but it makes you wonder where are we headed

One of the people is Christian, the others are liberals and not Christians. These liberals do things for people, volunteer, give to charity and all sorts of things that seem like very good deeds but they have said some disturbing things. They even joked that I should be raped. I said something like “what are you talking about” in a kind of protesting voice. I can’t remember exactly what I said but I feel like I should tell them that they have committed blasphemy and it’s even hard to talk about in a way because these are people I know and i don’t even like to admit it but they are a part of my life

... and the one person who "is" Christian was parroting this same disturbing proposal said by the liberal individuals?

These things they said, however off-the-cuff and "jokingly" they may have intended them to be, aren't trivial. My next question is: are you spending time with these individuals because you have to for work or school or something? Are these family members? These sorts of comments and proposals they've said are somewhat of a sociopathic nature and I'd be careful in your interactions with these individuals.

They are family but some of them live far away and visit infrequently

Ah. I see. It's sad to have extended family members who hold those sorts of discombobulated (immoral?) ideas. I hope they're not abusive to you when they visit.

I don’t agree with that either but it makes you wonder where are we headed

Adversity is a truth serum. These malicious comments are a reflection of the person underneath. You don't wake up one day talking like that. It was already there. They just needed a trigger to bring it out.

I've been taking the temperature for several years. Seeing what people feel about this and that and how they react and handle disagreement. Christians aren't very different from the rest. You'll find the same hostility and explosive rhetoric in both groups.

You'll have to put on your thinking cap and apply the word with wisdom. You can't bring everyone to your bosom. You're going to have to examine their character and fruit beforehand.

Many are cracking under pressure, spiraling out of control or nearing that point. It's not your imagination. I pivoted during the pandemic partially due to the things I saw about politics and vaccines. But I also suspected that people would turn on one another and we'd see an increase in spite, jealousy and hate.

I pruned my connections, prioritized r/t, and set new boundaries about the internet. I put it in a box. When I want to be bothered I take it out. When I don't it returns to that space. This is the battleground for the mind. Everything that's wrong in our society will play out in this medium. That's why it's getting worse.

For many it's the only place they can let it out or be heard. The growing epidemic of loneliness heightens that. There's a lot of anger underneath and it's spilling out. If you're not equally bothered or upset you'll become a target. Don't spend time in hostile settings. They'll turn on you if you're not ranting with them.

It's herd mentality on display. Don't get caught up in it. Folly never ends well.

If people think advocating rape even in a joking manner then I may have to tell them (possibly in a joking manner) that if they think that way perhaps god will curse them and they should instead repent. They don't have to like Trump, they don't have to like me but that type of thinking or joking around seems disturbing

You would be better off separating or limiting your contact. The connection isn't edifying and trading barbs is pointless. Find better people to hangout with.

People that are full of hate say hateful things .... they need to do some self reflection.

Proverbs 4: 14 -17
Do not set foot on the path of the wicked
or walk in the way of evildoers.
Avoid it, do not travel on it;
turn from it and go on your way.
For they cannot rest until they do evil;
they are robbed of sleep till they make someone stumble.
They eat the bread of wickedness
and drink the wine of violence.

I think if this person tells me I should be raped again that I am going to literally say:

“that is a terrible thing to say, how will you escape the fires of hell unless you repent of your wickedness”

This thing that my sister said has influenced me to listen to audio versions of the Psalms every day now. I used to read and meditate on the psalms all of the time back in the early 1990s. I had read in a book on jewish spiritual practices that mediating on the psalms was an important spiritual practice. I often fall asleep with the psalms playing and it can help me sleep. Sometimes I feel a little agitated however and many psalms have an angry tone. I became aware that god wants us to forgive, and I often try to pray "today I forgive everyone who has offended me". I decided to find some youtube videos on forgiving rapists as it seems like a difficult topic and it is related because of verbal abuse from my sister. I watched this video of a woman in the Philippines who was raped around the age of 15. She supposedly forgave the rapists but the video was disturbing enough that I couldn't even listen to the whole interview.

I did go to a jews for jesus temple about 2 weeks ago. I told the worship leader what my sister said, he said it was terrible.

Yeah its a weird phenomena happening with the Left. We have heard plenty of rhetoric about taking Trump out. THye don;t hide it anymore as theough they think in their minds that its actually a good thing, a justified and rightouse or rather Woke thing to do.

Hillary called all Trump supporters deplorables like they were sinners. The same mentality is happening with the Trans and DEI problems. We see plenty of pro Palestinian supporters backing Hamas and calling for the extermination of Jews.

We see how Trans activists mostly males posing as women threatening with violence and coming after peoples blood. Riley Gaines had to have protection and taken away from an angry mob. Who knows what they would have done if they caught her. We see plenty of examples of Trans activists attacking women.

Then you have the climate extremist who are willing to make life hell for people trying to go about their lives. Even to the point of blocking emergency vehicles and risking lives.

Oh and don't forget the George Floyd riots where people went ballistic and smashed and destroyed property and killed people and then Harris defended thenm as victims. Just like they defend Hamas as victims.

This Woke disease has spread and is rotting peoples brains and sending them crazy. Even within some churches. Its a cunning deception as it uses nobel reasons to inflict an agenda like a religion. Or rather like the church use to do when they tried to control and intimidate people who did not go along with their doctrine.

Its good you spoke up and this needs to happen more and more. The more it does the more they do go quite because you are calling out their own bigotry and hate and that they are hypocrites. The more you tell the truth the more it deflates the lies.

The best way is to use their own logic back on themselves. They can't argue against it. Thats why they go quite. Be objective, rational and calm and state the facts. Not personal and watch out foir the appeal to emotion. Thats an emotional blackmail they play to appeal to your senses rather than reality. The Left hate facts.

You don't even have to get political. Just ask "is that what Jesus would have wanted". Full stop.
