• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

A homeless heroin addict

My brother-in-law is a homeless heorin addict. He's only 26 and probably has no more than a few more months to live unless something drastic happens. He owns nothing but the clothes on his back; sold his driver's license and birth certificate for drugs; doesn't eat; steals for his next hit; has stolen and lied to everyone who has tried to help him, including our family.
We picked him up off the streets almost two weeks ago, bought him new clothes. He said he wanted rehab. We dropped him off Monday at the rehab house; he promptly left the following day and hasn't been heard from since.
Not sure how to even pray for this situation. He rejects Christ and all religion fore that matter. his best chance of survival at this point is getting arrested. he's 5'10" and weighs only 115 lbs. any food we tried to give him, he just threw it back up. His body seems to have rejected nourishment.

I'm going to start my blog about him, his condition, what we've been through with him. WAY too much to talk about in this post. If you wanna know the effects of heroin, with both the victim and their loved ones trying to help them, read my blog. Hopefully, i'm praying what i write will discourage a potential user from making a lethal mistake.

I'm sure you've done all you can do for him. Praying, for him and all those concerned.

(Just out of idle curiosity, there's no way to have him involuntarily committed for more than a day or two, is there?)

My brother is an addict as well. The pain he has caused my family and himself is immeasurable. The people who says drug use is a victimless crime are idiots.
