DETROIT - Rosa Parks, whose refusal to give up her bus seat to a white man sparked the modern civil rights movement, died Monday evening. She was 92.

Mrs. Parks died at her home during the evening of natural causes, with close friends by her side, said Gregory Reed, an attorney who represented her for the past 15 years.

I hadn't even realized that she was still alive until I heard that she had died. I'm glad she lived long enough to see the changes in society. I know that we still have some problems with racism in our country, but I think most people would agree that things are better now than in 1955.

"One" of the funerals for Sis. Parks is today which is live on C-SPAN. Please keep the Parks family in prayer because I am sure having to travel to three states and sit through three funerals is a very trying experience for them. Awesumtenor was asked on Friday to lend his gift and sing with the chior for todays service, along with a number of other Adventist sisters and brothers from the area, in Washington D.C.

Once again, keep the Parks family in prayer.

Peace

I'm sorry, that is an incorrect response... but thanks for playing.

In His service,
Mr. J

Awesumtenor, your response made me giggle. That was really cute. Just when I thought "oh no...Awesumtenor is going to blow a gasket" you rose above and approached it humorously (although I agree this subject itself isn't humorous at all).

Jonathan, I can't believe you mean that brother. You're overlooking the reason God separated the languages...those people were working together to try getting to heaven by building a tower...totally bypassing God's will. He created a way of making sure we never try anything stupid like that again in one accord. He did not, however, segregate black from white....Moses was married to a black woman! If that made God angry, I think we would've heard about it.

If we were truly meant to be "segregated" history wouldn't have happened the way it did. Black and whites are together in this country for a reason...possibly to see how many people will hate their brother for something as trivial as the color of their skin. You can't hate your brother...for ANY reason.

Jon, you're a super nice person and I can't help but think you rushed through your post without really considering how it sounded. Please everybody, let's give him the benefit of the doubt on this one.

if you really studyed the content of the post you would realize i meant GOD separated us. I never presented the issue of ME being against any ethnic group. I have many black asian and miscellaneous friends on here. It is by mistake that this was taken in a racist slur. This is just quoting the bible what happened in babel. I am no way Racist. Thanks alot for sticking up for me trust and obey. I am in NO way racist guys. Man I didnt say ME in any of that post lol. Well I did stick up for you brother.....but I knew that your post was going to be misconstrued. It sounded bad to me and I love ya, so I figured if someone on here didn't love you and read that you'd be in big trouble.

I'm glad you clarified though because things aren't always what they appear and I KNEW my brother Jonathan was not racist!! I love ya man!

Getting back to the OP - The final service today for sister Parks was as lovely as the one here in the DC area.

May the Lord be with the family and all the morners. The Lord truly ministered through her life and I pray we will all take sister Parks example, along with so many others, and learn from it. Her courage, wisdom and elegance has and will continue to inspire generations to come.

Peace
